Re: Lowering 02 SS Camaro
Going to move to Handling and Braking.
As for what to do, I think you have two possible choices, the SLP Eibach / Bilstein package or Hotchkis sells a 1" lowering setup. The other packages out there are going to drop you too much.
I put the SLP Eibachs and Bilstein shocks on my SS, the rear was lowered just right ~ 7/8" The front looked a little high (as most SLP spring equipped cars do) so I cut off 1/2 a loop from the spring. The front dropped just about 1". The car has the perfect stance. With the new springs and shocks the car rides awesome, and handles like it is on rails.

If you want to do it right, then you need to do springs, shocks, and lower control arm relocation brackets at a minimum. We carry the G2 lowering springs that will drop the car 1 1/2" in the front and 1 5/8" in the back. A set of Bilstein shocks would make that car handle REALLY well! The LCA relocation brackets will get the LCA geometry back in check after the car is lowered.
Give me a call if I can help you out.

Re: Lowering 02 SS Camaro
Just as another reference point my Eibach Prokit springs gave me ~1-5/8" drop at all four corners (EDIT: this is on a 2000 SS). IMHO, if you're planning on lowering the car and doing further suspension mods, definitely take Trevor up on his offer and give LGM a call - it pays to do it right the first time

Re: Lowering 02 SS Camaro
I want pics of the 2000 ss that is lowered. Ls1 Ultra Z just cut his springs, and it looks bad azz, but I want good geometry, and a real slammed look. How far can you go before you gotta have the adjustable panhard rod? I just bought a non adjustable one...damn

Re: Lowering 02 SS Camaro
Agree with Xsta Z 28, I have the Bilstein suspension (on an '02) and the front is a bit high, (1" lower would be great)
Xsta Z 28, ...How much did cutting 1/2 coil from the spring lower the front?? and did you cut from the top OR bottom of the spring??

Re: Lowering 02 SS Camaro
I just wanted to post up another option on springs. We also have the Hypercoil springs that will drop the car 1.25" if the G2 springs are a bit much for you. These were the only springs we used prior to coming out with our G2's.

Re: Lowering 02 SS Camaro
I have eibah sportlines and it dropped the back a total of 2 inches and the front 1.5 inches.
Ride is awesome, handling is awesome even with the stock shocks. It even has a really nice stance. I didn't get relocation brackets or an APHR but I have no rubbing and I didn't really lose any traction although I am gonna do the relocation brackets and APHR sometime.
I have pics but they aren't that great, the car is on a slight hill so it isn't sitting right.

Re: Lowering 02 SS Camaro
Trevor,I got some new Hypercoil springs for $120 and they lowered the rear of my TA almost 2".Iv`e cut my bumpstops (1 1/4") and they are still hitting the rear.I still have stock shocks.I`m adding some relocation brakets to help with traction.I`m so glad to get rid of the 4x4 look but I still want to drag race.Got any suggestions?

Guess I will need to get some of those spring adjuster things too (Ground Control). I assume you paid $120 for just the rear springs? How do you like them?
