Which Springs, Which Shocks To Lower
Im going to lower my 2k1 LS1. Just needed advice on which springs to get and which shocks. Is there a package deal where i can get both at the same time? Who has the best prices? should i do the install myself, or should i just pay the money to have it done? How long does the process take? Im pretty good with tools and mechanics, but never did my suspension before, only on my 1968 VW Bug...Will my Z28 need to be RE-aligned once i get the springs installed? Will my ride be any different than it is right now? (its pretty stiff, and takes corners excellent) Will i have any rubbing with my stock 16" GS-C's...? Thanks for any input...

Re: Which Springs, Which Shocks To Lower
How much am i looking at for a set of G2 springs, and a set of Bilsteins?
and if you could answer, how much does it cost to have it installed by like, Goodyear or someplace? How much should i be spending for installation? Will i have to get another alignment as well?? Thanks TrevorD...
ps...i heard that all bilsteins are on backorder, so does that mean if i ordered today, that Im lookin at a 3-6 week delivery on my springs/shocks kit?

Re: Which Springs, Which Shocks To Lower
We have two different sets of springs here at L.G. We have the Hypercoils that lower the car 1.25", and we have our G2 super springs that will drop the car 1.5" in the front and 1.625" in the rear. I always recommend replacing the struts/shocks at the same time if you're wanting a complete setup done right. We carry the Bilstein shocks as well, but we're waiting on a shipment for the struts; we do have the rear shocks in stock, though. Our prices can be found on our website, except for the Hypercoil springs. We currently have them at $169 for a set of four.
An install will typically take around 3 hours for a spring/shock swap. The ride quality is going to be firmer than the stock stuff, but it's going to be REALLY tight through the corners! The G2 springs will be a little stiffer and will sit lower than the Hypercoils. You won't have any rubbing problems with the 16" wheels/tires.
Let me know if I can help.

Re: Which Springs, Which Shocks To Lower
To answer one of your questions, if your car is lowered with the springs you choose, you will have to get an alignment.
I've done a spring/shock changeout on my car twice now. The first time I used a spring compressor in my garage. I wouldn't do it again. Some auto parts stores like Murrays and some suspension places will separate the spring from the shock and assemble your new components for about $25 per side. I'd pay that in a second now. Taking out the assemblies and putting them back in is easy.
My second time I got a Ground Control coilover setup for the front. Now I don't need a spring compressor to change out shocks or springs anymore. You don't need to spend that kind of money for a street car though.
LG is having a suspension sale right now, and I hear a lot of good things about their G2 springs. I'd strongly suggest that you consider getting front Bilsteins revalved for such stiff springs though. I don't believe LG will do that. Perhaps Trevor will answer on this one. I had mine revalved through Sam Strano

Re: Which Springs, Which Shocks To Lower
Is it really this much trouble to lower my car? Do i really have to re-valve the shocks, what if i just did the G2 springs with stock shocks?
Would that help any?
Is there any other shock out there that would be suitable for the G2 springs? Im not into racing my car, just want to lower it, thats it....
But i want to do it the right way too...so whatever it takes then.
