If I plan on goin with G2 springs but not shocks yet. How can I retain a comfortable ride as much as possible?

Don't drive it.

Sorry, but with those high rate springs, not upgrading the shocks will make your kidneys hurt.

I rolled the G2 springs with stock shocks for about 10k....wasn't that bad of ride quality...just don't try to hit large bumps hard at speed..

Unfortunately, no. Suspensions work as a system, so when you change a component that drastically (lowering ride height, changing all kinds of angles, increasing spring rate), it throws everything else out of whack. The stock deCarbon shocks are not great to begin with, so when you put them under much higher stress, they can really show their weakness. Aside from being a rough ride, the added stress can make them fail completely.

Even with Koni's and G2's, my car still rode like **** on the street Those springs are uber-stiff, no way around it...

...but it handled great when I went autocrossing!

Putting G2's with DeCarbons is basically going to be like removing the shocks altogether.

I disagree. The combo described above (Konis/G2 SS) works very good. The G2 SS are very stiff in the rear, but still do the job very well. All MHO.

Decarbons are crap ... just barely adequate for stock ride height springs.

If you go with an aftermarket spring that lowers the ride height and you don't change shocks, you will be hating life.

Heard and should in the same sentence. Now that is scary (I heard).

5 posts, I love it. Can I get an IP check?

Italiano- Whats the reason not to upgrade the shocks? If money is the issue, just deal with the ride quality, or lack there of until you can afford shocks. The ride is not that bad honestly and there are quite an amount of variables that will effect the ride harshness.

Riding around on a 16" wheel/tire combo feels like you are floating on air. Change nothing but going to a 17" wheel/tire combo and it feels like a million dollars. Riding around on an 18 or 19 and it is going to feel pretty stiff.

I have had the G2 super springs on my car for the last year and a half. I bought them used from my friend before he sold his Z28. I also still have the stock DeCarbons on my car because I am more concerned about HP and TRQ #'s than handling for now. My Formula handles great and feels responsive, so I have no complaints. If you are going to upgrade the springs and shocks, just buy them all at the same time. It beats the heck out of pulling the front struts out a second time which are a bitch in the first place!
