DO NOT BUY AUTOZONE !! Either get you a good set of aftermarket rotors are OEM. If your have a consistant problem with warpage you need to diagnose the problem. Are you torqueing the lug nuts?? What type of pad are you running (Pads can build up to much heat and cause the same problem) You may have a problem in the rear brakes. Sometime if you rear brakes are not working properly your fronts are doing to much and causing the front rotors to overheat. Stop for a few minutes and look at the BIG picture and not the most obvious.

Why do you discourage the Autozone rotors Vic?
I think they work great. IMO, they are just as good as OEM rotors if not better.

BTW, check some of these out...

https://ls1tech.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ulti...;f=25;t=001103

There's a few opinions on them. Some good, some bad. I hope that helps.

Be sure to torque your lug nuts too 100ft/lbs to prevent warping.

I'm SOLD on AIMCO rotors from Autozone.

I use them (abuse them, actually) with Hawk Blue and Panther Plus pads at a local road course, turning times a few seconds behind a ZO6 and pulling away from M3s and 911s.

I can typically outbrake an M3 and sometimes a 911, depending on the driver's *******.

And at $35 each, it doesn't break the bank.

So, for daily driving, they would be just fine.

FYI ... I torque my lugs to 85lbs. 100lbs in the heat I generate will almost weld the lug in place.

I always torque my lugs, I'm not stupid, and I bought the autozone rotors put em on the other night and they are working great so far. I am pretty good with brakes too, My 95Z had 95k miles on the original rotors never even turned. I say the stockers just SUCK!

For you guys that are runnng the Auto Zone rotors and having good luck more power to you. Maybe in the past few years they have made improvements in some of there product lines. If there working and cheaper then keep using them. As a shop though I do not use anything from there because it is a common kwowledge that a lot of there parts go bad. I have had people tell me (quoted-they have a lifetime warranty and all four times it failed they warranted the part). For my shop we do not want a part thats going to fail. My suggestion on torque is common question (most people do not know what it is). As Camaro LS1 said only trying to be helpful (No Offense).

This place is not so much about horsepower as it is handling, brakes and ******* ...

Mods ...
G2 everything ...
I run 1:28s and 29s ... a ZO6 will run 1:24s and 25s

G2 LS1 has a Camaro that will hang with and outrun ZO6s. I've learned a LOT from him and his dad ...

Vic@FishersAutomotive,

No offense taken. I was interested in hearing your objective opinion.

ZippyZ28,

I'm glad the autozone rotors worked out for you!
