Those who've removed rear spring spacer --->
I removed the rubber spacers from my rear springs a while ago. I fed heater hose over the first top coil to prevent wear & tear. It was cool for a while now the driver's side squeaks like a SOB. Anyone ever experience this or do you have any suggestions?

Dan, Are you talking about the upper spring rubber insulators, why would want to remove them in the first place? Sounds like the heater hose has worn a hole in it, I'd re-install the stock rubber pieces if it were my car.

You got it Al. The Camaro's with 16" wheels have a 4x4 look too them. Lots of guys, including Nineball I believe, have removed these and haven't had any problems. I better pull the spring off and take a look at it. I don't want to put the spacers back in if I don't have to. The rear end drops about .75" without them. I might have to put them back in. Pulling the spring off will determine it i guess. I didn't even think that the heater hose would wear out.
Nice talking to you again Al. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the tip WJ 99 SS. If I were going to change springs though, I'd throw a pro kit on or some G2 lowering springs. I'm putting my money towards other things right now. Removing the spacer was a ghetto fabrication. Lots of guys here have done it and I haven't heard of anyone else having problems with it. I'm going to remove the spring today. I'll post my findings.

Here's a few suggestions on how to lower your car, get yourself a fat girlfriend and put her in the back seat <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> , use lowering springs in the rear and if it's a little to low install AirLift bags to get just the right height.

Re: Those who've removed rear spring spacer --->
Vic: I did some research on the V6 rear spring thing. The '95 Camaro V6 rears should be the softest rate of all the 4th gen. rears. Someone please correct me if they think I'm mistaken. Also, I've heard many of the 4th gen. NHRA guys are running convertible non-SS, or non-WS-6 rears, because they are NOT progressively wound, where the SS & WS-6 rears ARE. Again, someone correct me if they know differently. Best wishes. WJ. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> (The convertible rears they run are V8 models, of course.)

?
I had 1995 Camaro V6 springs in my car and it did not drop, WJ are you sure? I still have them and would sell them too.
I have a 9" and the rear sat up higher, so I have been running w/o the rubber spring cushions for a couple years.
I would suggest locating a set of Eibach Prokit springs (rear) and those will lower the rear an inch. Sportlines should lower it 1.5 or more. Or you can cut 1 coil to get a 1" drop.
I have a line on used rear prokits I can get them and them to you for about $60, I had them in my car a year ago and sold them and the guy never used them.

Let me know if you can come up with these John. I'm not sure what part of Chi-town your from, but I'll be in Waukegan over Thanksgiving. I could pick them up if necessary.

Yeah same thing happened to me when I installed my Moser 12 bolt. I guess Moser put the spring seats up higher on the axles. No spacers and no rubber hose either, just metal to metal. Kinda like my PA racing K member A arm combo. The A arm bushings are metal!
Talk about a moving orchesta, my car squieks and rattles. On top of that I removed my sound deadening! Good thing I have my JL audio 10" stealth box, Monsoon combo to drown out the noise.

When you go back to reinstall the springs you might try putting a little silicone grease or anti-seeze to reduce frictional noise. Good Luck !
Thanks for backing me in some post. I do have a question on the V-6 springs. I would not have thought the rears would be different, the fronts are obvious. Has anyone compared the spring rates (option tag on the spring code).
Vic

I can't imagine the V6 and LS1 springs are the same...although oem Z28 springs suck.

Hi John. '02 SS A4 dropped exactly 1" w/the '95 V6 rear coils and spacer block that came w/them. That's w/no spare, jack, less than 1/4 fuel tank, 15" Convo-Pro rears w/ 26-8.5 ET Drags. Maybe the ones I got from the yard were clapped-out w/high miles....Your car have the 10 bolt in it then? Best wishes. New England's getting some of your badass weather this wknd... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> WJ.

Yes, John. The rubber cushion. I don't know how many miles were on the car the springs came from, the whole interior was gone--but looking at car I'd say it was a high-miler, for whatever it's worth..... WJ.

Re: Those who've removed rear spring spacer --->
Well, I finally pulled the rear springs. The heater hose on both sides was fine. The squeak was coming only from the driver's side. So, I cut off the old heater hose and I fed a new piece onto the spring. I intalled that then I took the car for a spin. The squeak was still there. I then re-installed both rubber spacers. I took the car for a spin again. The squeak is still there! Obviously the !spacer wasn't the problem. Now I'm stuck with a 4x4 and the squeak. I'm too lazy to pull the springs off for a third time to remove the spacers again. Maybe sometime in the future.
Since I've ruled out the !spacer causing the squeak, what could it be. There's really no noise unless the rear driver's side spring gets really compressed...like from turning into a driveway or from physically pushing on the car to compress the spring.
What could it be? LCA bushing or something?

Try zbass28@aol.com but he had a weird squeak and it was the top of the shock.

Will do PSJ, thanks.
There's no point in replacing the shock with a stock deCarbon and I'm not upgrading since the lease on my car is up soon. I might have to live with it.
Maybe the person you recommended was able to find a solution without having to replace the shock.
Thanks again.
