Default 16x8 with E/T`s enough tire?

I`m thinking of getting 16x8 with 26.5/11.5-16 E/T`s. Do you think thats enough tire for my set-up? You can see in my sig. I`m trying to budget for my tires. I will use them at the track only. I don`t want to grind if I don`t have to. I want to spray off the line also. What do you think! Thanks!

I think you need more tire. I was having issues with a cam only setup with my Vig 3200 on 26x10.5x16 ET Streets. I am trying to find out what will work for me with a H/C setup and a 4400 stall with 3.73's. I would like to use a DOT tire so I can drive to the track but I may need a slick. I am running a 15x7.5 Convo rim so anyone who wants to chime in and help us both out would be greatly appreciated.

I should have put that in. I meant slicks on the rims. I won`t be driving it on them at all. I`m trying to go with a rim I don`t have to grind or cut with. But will go with Slick forsure! I`m on a budget also! My car is lowered with eibach springs. What do you think now?

Beard

My car is lowered also with the eibach kit. I would still go with a 15. The extra flex from the bigger sidewall is a huge help. Bogart makes a bolt on wheel in 15 x 9.75. The ET Drag in 26 x 11.5 x 15. Is all you should need. I know guys pulling 1.30 60's on those with over 600hp.

You will need relocation brackets and some adj lower control arms to put the pinion angle back where it should be.

I'm running 26 x 11.5 x 15 ET Streets on a 15 x 9.75 rim. which are much wider that the 16" version. I have a ARE 346 with stage 2 heads and cam. Put around 410 to the wheels.

The key is getting on a 15" x 9 or 10 rim.

I can leave the line at 5800 dumping the clutch and the car noting but hooks. best 60 of 1.62 with 3.90 gears. These tires will take alot more thats with 18lbs of air alot of people run 12 to 15 lbs of air in theses without tubes but I don't have a need to right now.

I'm going to also be adding a 100 shot. I can't wait to see some numbers from you Beard.

Go ahead and get them and if they dont hook you can always step up to the Hoosier 28" slick that fits a 16" rims. It will still fit the same rim and no grinding is necessary, but the tire will be tight since your car is lowered.

I think you should get some 15" rims for the best traction possible. Since you've heads/cam etc... I'd go with a 9-10 full slick.

I'm running the 26-8.5x15 ET Drag on 15x7.5 Centerline Convo-Pro whls. They work great. Lots of guys are going "overkill" on tire widths & heights. The narrowest, shortest, lightest tire you can dead hook, or barely spin with is going to give you the best e.t. and mph. Some people snicker when they look at my "little" 8.5" wides, then, after I've put them on the trailer, they begin to understand what "too much tire" means...Just the opinion of a "old guy". <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> WJ.
