Default Porsche based Big Brake Kit

Guys, I don't know how many of you have heard of me, I have been active on some of the other forums. And I have made Big Brake kits for GM F-Bodies, BMW 3 series, Porsches and Mustangs. As my business focus is changing I have a number of Big Brake kits for the 94 - 03 Mustang and the 93 - 02 GM F-Bodies still remaining.

These kits may be purchased in couple of different ways.

1) You may purchase the entire kit for (Mustang) $1600 including pads and shipping or (GM F-Body) $1650 including shipping (no pads)

or

2) You may purchase the adapters, hats and all mounting hardware as a kit for (Mustang) $400 or (GM F-Body) $450 and source your own calipers, rotors and pads.

If you go the route of the separate parts I will provide you with the part numbers and soucres from which to purchase the parts.

The Mustang kit uses the Porsche 993TT "Big Red" calipers and 2 piece rotors. The caliper is larger than just about anything out there. It is about 20-30% larger than the Brembo kit which has a retail price of $2995 (and BTW, they are on back order) And its approx. 75% larger than the little Brembo $2195 kit. (Which I believe is the same as the Cobra R and Rousch (sp?) brake systems.

The GM F-Body kit uses the Porsche 996TT monobloc "New Big Red" calipers and the 996TT rotor. This kit can upgrade to the 350 mm rotor and the GT2 6 piston caliper also. (More $$)

Any questions, give me a call or e-mail

Michael,

Generally we do not allow non-sponsors to advertise their products on this site. I'll make an exception in this case because:

1. You are changing business formats and are closing out remaining stock at very reasonable prices.

2. Your brake packages are unique and are not carried by other site sponsors.

But, please understand that this is a one-time-only ad for your products as a non-sponsor.

Thanks,
Tony Whatley

Thank you. I truly appreciate your understanding and acceptance of this one time thing.

By anyone's standards, it is a GREAT deal on a GREAT brake kit. No one will ever find anything like this for this kind of price again. I only have about 12 kits remaining and I need to see them go go go.

Anyway, thank you again for allowing me to post to this forum.

TTT.

This is a possible alternative for people. If you don't have enough cash right now, you can buy the kit and then get the calipers and rotors later when you have more money.

How much do the calipers, rotors and pads go for the LS1 F-body kit if I brought them invidually?

If you can find a Porsche dealer that will sell at good prices (check Porsche forums, Audi, BMW, etc.), I think you can get the rotors for no more then $175 each (retail is $198) and the calipers for no more then $450 each (don't know retail). Unless there's been a price increase. The stock pads went from $100 the first time I bought them to $265 now.

Call around to Porsche dealers in your area for a "worst case" example.

The part #'s are:

996tt calipers: (left and right) 996.351.430.10
996.351.429.10
996tt rotors: (left and right)
996.351.409.02
996.351.410.02
996tt pads (stock) 996.351.949.12

The Pagid Blacks (race pads) come with a Porsche part # on the back of them. It is

996.351.940.90

I don't think it is a valid part# but you can ask the dealer if they know a part # for "sport pads" for a 996tt.

Other pads are available. Check the prospeed site. His prices are pretty much the same as anywhere else.

George's part numbers are correct but the prices are just a shade off.

The retail price for the calipers is $520.30/ea. and the rotors retail for $185.50/ea.

The factory street pads retail for $315.38/set. The Pagid Blacks (RS14 and actually an Avacodo Green) are only available from Prospeed Motorsport and they do not sell to end users. The Pagids retail for $218/set. You will not find a discount anywhere on the pads.

The prices you can find for the calipers and rotors may be less than the retail prices. Call Phil Anderson at Suncoast Porsche (877.923.1700) Hes a good guy and takes care of folks better than any dealer I have experience with. It is to your advantage to mention my name. As I have been doing biz with him for some time now, he knows exactly what I do an dthe kits I have produced.

The rotors will need to be drilled for the 5 x 4.75" GM bolt circle. When I do this, I sell the rotors for $225/ea. And it's rare that I don't have them in stock. Most dealers will not stock these rotors. If you want to drill them yourself, I have a template available. It inserts into the center of the rotor and provides a 5x4.75" bolt circle exactly between the Porsche 5x130 mm cicrle. This virtually eliminates any balance issues. I will be happy to sell copies of the template for $150 ea.

ALthough I ma getting out of the kit business, I will continue to stock the rotors and Pagid RS14 pads for these kits.

does this kit retain abs operation ? If it does, then I'll probably take it. I'm going to a lapping day today ( in the rain ) My mind will be made up somewhere between T9 and T3 at Pacific Raceways

Yes, it retains the stock ABS. Basically, on an LS1 it is a straight bolt on. Nothing to cut or drill. The only thing you may need to plan for is the wheel studs. The stock ones need to be pressed out and the longer ARP ones (included in the kit) pressed in.

On the LT1 you have to cut off the "ears" that surround the stock calipers. There is just no way to build a kit for the LT1 without cutting involved. Other than that, it is the same installation procedure.

HTH.

Well I ordered mine There was no point in adding any hp until I added brakes. Question for you though. I was having a hard time understanding which brake pads to order. Is it the #6197 pads that fit this kit ? I ordered the FT-850 #6197 pads. Are these the correct fitment ? Will these pads work on the street without squealing and still be good for lapping days and such ?

Thanks
Bill
