removing rubber above rear coils
has anyone out there measured the difference of having that big rubber insert that sites on top of the coil spring in the back suspension.. i'v heard u can take em out and then put some heater hose or somthin over the coil, bye taking that rubber out it lowers it a bit more?? but how low if anyone no's? what im doing is i have a eibach pro kit.. i wana lower it a little bit more.. i figure taking out that rubber insert and maybe choping a little bit off the front.. just so the wheels site perfectly in the wheel well.. im not talking ricer style... just so u cant see the top of the tires.. i'll post pics if all goes well.. thnx for any help.
Sleeving the upper coil and removing the spring cushions will lower the car an inch, maybe 1.25 inches it's a good drop.

Yep....gives it a nice ride height and is nearly free. Just slip some rubber tubing over the top coil for cushioning
I just did this again this weekend. I had a squeak before that I thought was related to the !spacer mod. I was wrong so I took them off again. Takes no more than an hour tops and it'll drop you around an inch.
Shouldn't really affect handling much since the spring rate is not affected at all. Only thing is the car is slightly lower and center of gravity lower is a good thing for handling. If anything, handling should improve a little.

I removed them last weekend; they lowered the car about an inch. Looks perfect now!! Handling did not change from stock.

you guys lowered the rear but what about the front. does it still look even with just lowering the rear? I plan on doing this tomorrow. how do u lower the front?
so it lowers it that much eh.. thats good.. im gona try it out. As for lowering the front fbody man.. u gota take the actual strut out and take the spring off then chop it a little bit. or buy a new spring whatever u prefer.
thanx for the help

so if you just do the back does the car then sit level? no squating or anything is there? thats what i wanted all a long is the car to sit level with out the *** in the air but i hate squatting. also is there a stock ride height spring that has a higher spring rate?(stiffer)
thanks
thanks
No, no squatting. It's not that big of a change. Just makes it look a little better and like the guys above said, may lower the center of gravity a tad.
I did it to my '94 Z28 in 1998. Sleeved the top coil of each spring in garden hose (!) that was a perfect diameter fit and have had absolutely no problems.
Want to lower the front 1-1.5 inches, but have the TCI deep trans pan...
