Default Slp bolt on subs???

I just installed SLP bolt on sub frame cons. and now I get a banging sound coming from the LCA area when I go over a big speed bump or into a hard turn. Doesn't do it all the time. What could be the cause???? Thanks guys

Sounds like the LCA aren't torqued enough, torque specs are 80 ft/lbs if your tightening the head of the bolt or 60 ft/lbs if doing the nut. I'm not sure what your torqued the large bolts that came with the SLP sfc but 55 to 60 ft/lbs would be good, the tunnel brace bolts should be 25 ft/lbs.

I have Re-toqued and checked everything on mine and it still rattles intermittently. I am certainly not saying you should not check your suspension, but it might be the nature of the suspension. I really dont believe that but I have'nt recieved a better answer or remedy. Hopefully someone will chime in that knows what it is.

Well, I torqued everything down to specs, Guess what??? no more banging sound. Car feels nice and solid. Especially when turning hard. Great investment. I thought I had tightened everything up. Goes to show what a valuable tool a torque wrench can be....

How did you get the torque wrench on the bolts to torque down the lca's? I have a craftsman torque wrench and it won't fit between the frame and lca bolt with the socket on it. I am going to try a swivel socket, but was wondering what you used?

I don't know what ZmeGo used but we used a crowfoot wrench with the torque wrench.

I used a 3/8ths ratchet torque wrench and a shallow socket on the bolt head. I wouldn't use a swivel socket,it will break. Plus your torque setting will be off. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
