Default UMI Control Arm Relocation Brackets

I was curious if anyone on here who has installed these noticed that the
torque setting for the lower shock mounting nuts in the UMI
installation instructions is 95 ft. lbs while the factory recommends 66 ft.
lbs.? 95 ft. lbs. seems pretty tight for mounting a shock. Anyone on here ever
question UMI regarding this? I would call them but I would have to wait till
Monday and I'd like to get the 'Bird back together this weekend.

If could be a error in our installation instructions, I don't see either setting being a issue. If 66 ft. lbs is the factory spec then tighten it there. I usually never torque the shock mount, just make sure it is tight. The control arm bolt is the most critical, if it is not tight enough you may receive a "clunk"

Hope that helps!

Thanks, Ryan. Appreciate the response. Now that's real customer service
for you!
I also noticed that your instructions listed 72 ft. lbs. torque for both of the
bolts on the brackets. Again, the shop manual listed 80 ft. lbs. (87 for the
2002 model) for lower control arms. I'm assuming there is a reason for the
72 ft. lbs., perhaps due to the difference between the bracket & the factory
set-up. I went with the 72 ft. lbs. as your instructions noted. If I hear any
clunking sounds when I test drive it, I'll bump the torque setting up to what
the factory recommends.

No lower or higher than any other vendor. Pick the best price for a weld in and call it a day.
