How about a washer dyno? Post your numbers!

I torqued a nut/washer to 225 the other day. Beat that!

I have a 22" Snap On breaker bar. I can only measure torque to 250 ft lbs, but my butt dyno say this is much more than 250 ft lbs....

It's probably 450 or more....

Yea, but my washers never hook up and the times are slower than they should be.

I found this washer on eBay. Do you guys think it'll fit? This is my daily driver if that matters.

That's the coin operated type. Of course you can always just put washers in it instead of change.

So do I put the poly side up or the rod end side up?

Also, when I tighten down the hex head, one of the corners of the hex covers up the adjustment screw. What special tool does it take to fix this?

Anyone else washer-bind on hard cornering?

Just grind down the corners on the hex to get clearance.

Hey, does anybody know if I can use shorter bolts with the stock washers? I just got $100 for my birthday and want to buy some shorter bolts, but don't have the $$ to do washers as well.

You mean lowering bolts, right? Only if you revalve your washers. Otherwise you will die a horrible death.

But won't that cause wrench hop?

For my WS6 I stick with 12 bolt washers. On the 92 I like 9" washers. I do get harassed by the Ford guys that there washers are stronger but us GM guys stand by our washers. I liked it back in the 70's when washers were washers, ya know.

Oh and a little about bolts. If you NOS the bolts they are faster and stronger. Oh and don't ever use anything but a 8-32 Torx 15 bolt , bigger is a waste of money and weight.

I like the titanium washers but hear there are problems with them becoming brittle if they get too warm, how are you guys cooling these? Can I still chrome them?

Keep in mind my parents have to approve since I'm 17

Right, I meant lowering bolts. Yeah, I've done a lot of research over the last week or so and it sounds like the valving on the stock washers sucks. Using them with the stiffer lowering bolts will probably cause the OEM washers to break. Crap. I think I will do it anyway, though, and see what happens. I'll post up pics once I get all the parts.

Installing drag bags on your wrenches will help. These should improve your 60ft-lb numbers too.

They will probably be stuck in the mounts and you'll have to replace them.

I need to get my washers drilled for safety wire so they don't fall off.
