Where to get stock shocks
I dont have a lot of money to spend, but I know the rear shocks are shot on my car. A buddy of mine told me to try SLP for some takeoff's but I cant seem to find anything about them on the website. Where can I find some stock type shocks for cheap that are new, i dont want to buy used from ayone on here?

It looks to me like New Era has a lot of what SLP used to
sell, maybe they got the last of the inventory or something.
Of course it's been about 5 years since the last of the old
orange units were "taken off".

dont get de carbons!!! GM didnt think straight with thoes shocks/struts.
when i took mine off, they were like limp dicks. amazingly they lasted 13 years.
get some napa shocks, or monroe. $80 for the rears from napa, $100 or so for monroe. i have napa struts/shocks and they are great.
although if you are cheap napa has shocks for $13.99ea

The thing is I cant wait. I can pull up on the fender and lift the car up at least 3 inches and push it down the same amount. The shocks are 8 years old. I am just looking for something that will last me a couple years until I graduate and get a job and can afford QA1's. Are KYB's decent? Or should I go to NAPA? Remember, I am going for replacement shocks I am not looking to upgrade unless I can do it for $100 or cheaper for both. I will also be replacing the springs with some moog springs from summit.

Check out ebay. I have seen tons and tons of brand new shocks on there. Not all brand new, but most are. There are plenty of shocks wholesale places that sell on ebay so browse through and you will find a deal really quick. Bilstein makes really nice shocks and I see companies on ebay with shocks for your camaro or firebird all the time. I own a 86 camaro so I only see them for my car once and a blue moon. I'm about a day away from some new Bilsteins for my car for about 160 which is a good deal. Now if I could just find some Koni struts I'd be set....

I understand that sometimes you're just strapped for cash and need a quick fix item. I've got a set of KYB GasAJust shocks sitting in my garage. I don't know how well they'll work with stock springs, but they were way too soft for my Hotchkis springs (hence why they're on a shelf and not on my car). I'll let them go cheap, since they're not doing anything but collecting dust at the moment.
I'll be out of town on vacation tomorrow through Friday, but if you're interested and planning to be in the Houston area any time soon, let me know.

I know u said u didn't want to BUY used shocks. But mine had only 20k texas miles on them b4 I replaced them w konis this summer. I don't know where college station is, but I boxed my shocks up, and will GIVE them 2 u. If u r far away u would have 2 pay 4 shipping. These worked well when I took them off, I just upgraded.
edit: Ok I did some research. I'm thinking college station is in Texas, like the vast majority of LS1tech members. I love Texas...Camaros r plentiful! Had a great time when I flew down to pick mine up!

Just to let yall know, I ended up buying some KYB gas-a-just shocks. Is there anything I need to know when going to replace them and the springs? Any extra parts that I am going to need?

If you are going to replace the front springs there's a lot of things I can tell you. If you're doing the rears first then it is very straight forward. Lift the car and support it under the LCA pivot point. Unbolt the shocks and pull the axle down enough to get the old springs out. Watch the rotation in the perch and put the new springs in. I haven't replace the rear shocks, only the front struts and rear springs.

They worked great, although I only got to drive the car a few weeks before the motor spun 4 rod bearings. All in all they are a nice cheap replacement shock if you dont have the money for qa1's.

I was actualy thinking about getting sensa traks from monroe. So from your answer they were worth the 200 bucks or so and are a step up from the old factory shocks?
