If you ever break a driveshaft or bust a Ujoint you will be glad you had a loop.
The damage to the bottom of the car can be significant.
I have dropped a driveshaft or two in my travels..... I won't run a Hot Rod without one.

I too have a Lakewood unit. Best one on the market and its the cheapest one too.

I split a DS right down the middle with no loop. It now looks like something from Robot Wars got freaky with the underside of my car.

Does anyone know where I can get my DS balance checked & about how much it costs to get this done?

NHRA does not require a drive shaft loop as long as you are on a DOT tire (example: ET street or any drag radial) until you are running 11.49 or faster.

in that link the camaro one for $51 only goes up to 01. Since I have an 02 should I get the universal one for $26 and would it perform as well as the camaro specific one?

No, do not get the universal one. Get the one listed for 93-01 and just assume that it says "93-02 Camaro/Firebird" because '01 and '02 are identical.

Nick, I take my driveshafts, flywheels, clutches, etc...to a local transmission shop. I would imagine any trans shop should be able to balance a driveshaft in house. Also any automotive machine shop should be able to do it also.

I like the Lakewood piece because you can install w/o removing the driveshaft. However, I prefer my BMR piece because I do not have to worry about the shear forces applied to the bolts on the Lakewood piece if the driveshaft fails. I would rather spend an extra hour just for peace of mind.
Just my opinion, yours may vary.

Exactly what I was thinking that's why I think I'm goin with a one piece loop. Looks like if the DS came loose it would bust the small bolts on loops like the Lakewood. Just my thinking.

I have the lakewood and from the picture, it does not look like it is gonna fit because in my borlamouth exhaust, the muffler is at the front of the driveshaft, where the ds loop would go. Would bmr fit?

Its better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. If i were to keep the aluminum ds thats on my car i would probably get one but im lookin to get a chrome moly one still may get one but i havnt heard of anyone breakin a chrome moly ds on a street car before. just on the rock crawlers when they take a 10 foot fall and land perfectly on the ds.

I had an SLP on my old 94 'vert. I don't remember having a problem with it. You may need some longer bolts. They say it won't fit because verts have an extra stamped X brace that uses the same mounting brackets. Since the base of the loop is thicker and heavier duty than the stock piece you can either leave the X brace off or bolt the driveshaft loop between the X brace and the mounting bracket on the floor board (hence the longer bolts).
