Has anyone tried the Spohn driveshaft loop? I tried putting mine on, and its hitting the inside of the tunnel on the passenger side, so I cant get the two bolts holding the whole thing on in. I really dont feel like BFHing the tunnel.

THIS is why you want a safety loop

http://www.mofbody.com/forums/viewto...ken+driveshaft

Those suckers will break and bounce around the tunnel like crazy.

More pics of the tranny (or what's left of it)

You need one designed for LTs.
BMRs works nice, and the one I got from Spohn fit my JetHot Hookers perfectly.
There are several others on the market with a 1-2" dip.

If you have an aftermarket ypipe that slp wont work!

well i spent 2 hours and made my own looks just like the Bmr one the only thing diffrent the loop is a little bit thinner but not much !! It isnt to hard just alot of measuring and checking angles and getting clearance right. I know i could have just bought one but i like to try to do things myself and if i fail then i go out and buy one lol.

The only thing about using the Lakewood is that you have to remove the seats and carpet. After that you have to drill holes in the body to bolt the loop to. If you go with the SLP it just bolts right up. Either way you go they do the same thing.

im pretty sure its 12.99 or quicker for a ds loop and street tire or 13.99 or quicker with stickies

I thought you only need one if you are running slicks.

you ever had a DS come through the floor board? Believe me you don't want to.

Just put one on the car. Its one of those no brainers.

I have it, but I couldn't put it on with the Borla Exhaust. The Y in the exhaust was "too soon" making it too wide for the loop to bolt up. I tried rearranging the brackets and such, but no such luck. I probably could have forced it, but it would definately been resting on the exhaust and I figured that would suck...so I've left it off for the moment.

Anyone have any recommendations for a loop with Borla? I'd rather not have to remove the driveshaft....(the lakewood looks nearly Identical to the Spohn...)

Where could you mount a DS loop if you have 3 PT subframe connectors?

That flat piece of stamped steel might actually have some rigidity in the horizontal position...

And how low does the DS loop hang?

Those look pretty low and I scrape enough as it is...

My SFC are 3 point bolt ins. They weren't a problem..just the exhaust. It wouldn't have been any lower than the stamped metal factory piece. Most of it goes up in the tunnel.

Is this true? Do they make a dive shaft loop that just bolts in OEM holes?

Thats the universal one......you don't want that one. Lakewood makes one specifically for the 93 to 02 Fbody and it bolts right in from underneath the car. I know because I have one on my 94Z. I also have KBDD subframes and true duals and it fits like a glove. Ground clearance is the best by far but I don't have one o them fancy Ypipes in my way.

how would the lakewood compare to the Spohn Tubular Tunnel Brace besides the price as far as handling goes?
