Default BMR upper panhard ?

I just put my BMR upper panhard on last week, but was wondering what any of you other guys did with the heat shield between the muffler and gas tank. Since its not bolted to the upper panhard anymore, I can hear that rattle noise real bad back there. Did any of you guys just remove your heat shield(not sure how good of an idea that would be) or did you fab up something to fasten it somehow, or just live with the noise?

TIA
Preston

I don't remember what I did, but I don't have any rattling...I can't remember if I removed it or not. Probably did...I'll get under there and check this weekend.

I was just under my car last weekend looking around, thought about adding one of those, and looked right square at the heat shield, and thought the same thing....

That heat shield is long gone...it's really sad that I don't even remember taking it off.

You will need to remove the heat shield to keep it from rattling. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask

You guys that got the upper phr what was your reason? Looks like it would lower the right side of the phb even more which is not what you want on a lowered car. I seen where they made a bracket for the driver side on the rear and by the time you got it level it would be pretty low I would think.

The true purpose of it is to allow someone to run true duals over the axle.

What bracket on the driver side are you talking about, the BMR upper panhard bolts directly into the stock holes on the driver side

There is a bracket I seen that you can weld to the rear ill have to find it too lower the phr on the driver side to level it out with a lowered car almost like leveling the lca's with relocation brackets.

I am not familiar with that bracket

Here is a pic from the BMR site of what it looks like installed. I haven't taken a pic of mine yet

Yeh see that bar will lower the phr mounting point on the pass side and cause the phr the be even more unlevel. The adjustable phr will fix the alignment from side to side but wont fix the geometry of the bar being angled.

Directly from BMR's site:

This kit replaces the upper panhard rod support and relocates the panhard rod allowing enough room for up to dual 3" exhaust routing over the axle. Heavy duty tubular upper panhard rod support mounts in the original panhard rod location. New heavy duty brackets bolt to existing mounting holes and lower the panhard rod while maintaining the correct geometry. No welding or drilling required.

If you see this Lee, you guys do need to amend your statement about no drilling. You do have to do drilling to make the bolts you guys supply fit through the existing passenger side holes.

This is why I have it:

And as far as making the panhard rod not level...yes, that is true, but you are too far down in the weeds IMO on this point. Unless you are racing for money or something, it isn't gonna matter. Mine has been on for over 2 years, and I would have noticed anything negative about it by now. Some might need it level, but for most of us, this setup works fine as is.

Actually, that rear was just spray painted while everything was still installed on it It was a pretty ghetto, but decent job. I'm actually getting ready to wander out to my garage to put another coat of POR-15 on my Strange 12-bolt that's waiting to be installed. Man that paint's some nasty stuff, but works great
