Question UMI C5 alternatives and LS1 brakes?

I just noticed this on eBay. It's another bracket for the C5 brake conversion and different kits. I was wondering what anyone had to say about these.

I also just picked up an LS1 brake conversion and wanted to know if I could use C5 rotors, this or a similar bracket, and just the LS1 calipers.

Any ideas would help!

Thanks

I would stay away from them. I cant really tell in the pics but it looks like the two nubs (for lack of a better term) are welded on and that could cause a serious strength comprimise, especially being a such a critical part of the bracket.

for a cheaper alternative to paying $239 for brake brackets..

look up.. Kore3 industries on google..

i bought their C5 brake brackets.. very good quality, high grade steel.. there are other members on this board ( a lot actually) that have them.. and the price is more than half the cost of UMI or LG..

Thanks for the Kore3 info.

As for the other parts though... I've searched around and didn't find a specific answer to what little parts I might need besides the bracket and C5/C6 rotors.

please do not post links to non-sponsoring vendor products that compete with our site sponsors. We allow them to be discussed, but without pricing/contact info posted.

The PAB's between the LS1 and C5 are designed differently and use different sized bolts. Pretty much all these C5 brackets are designed around the C5 bracket and caliper.

Now you can use the ls1 caliper in the C5 bracket, but you will probably have to use C5 pads.

Ok so the C5 pads and rotors are what I will need. Thanks a lot.

Sorry Nine Ball, I was just interested in what people thought of the eBay crap.

Do you already have the C5 PABs?

Actually, I don't. Will I need them to go with my LS1 calipers?

Yes, the LS1 bracket uses a 12mm bolt, the C5 uses a beefier 14mm bolt plus the caliper spacing is different between them as well. Only the C5 bracket will line up properly.

There are also some small parts like clips to deal with. Try here:

I think you need the C5 end clips to match up to the C5 pads. I'm not sure about the rattle clip that goes on top of the LS1 caliper.

I know this swap has been done before, have you done a search for other people who've done it?

I have some that i got off ebay. So far so good. I asked the seller a lot of questions and he knows what he is talking about. The major difference is that UMI is made out of aluminum, which means it will not rust and may also be higher quality. The ones i got off ebay are made out of steel. They seems pretty good, they have been on the car for over a week now and im going to inspect them next week.
