Default Help me decide on which shocks to get

Ok, I'm looking tog et some new shocks as I'm over 40,000 miles now and I feel everything is starting to get a bit soft. I'm already planning on replacing the front and rear swaybar endlinks and bushings with poly bushings, I already have lca's, phr, and torque arm. The car will not be lowered as I have SLP LT's. The car is my Daily driver, the only racing it sees is in a straight line, any suggestiosn. Thanks a lot in advance.

Straight line may suggest Hal. Or, for a driver look at Tokico Illumina 5 (adjustable shocks), they are good street shocks and may allow some adjustment for 1/4 mile runs (www.ground-control.com has them). If you are a hard core drag racer, the Hals may be the way for you to go. If it is street driven and you just "mess around" at the strip on occasion....look towards Tokico, Bilstien, even KYB Gas-A-Just are not bad (and real cheap). Good luck.

Just for the record, because I see you mention it a lot..... Tokico doesn't make the Illumina for the front of the 4th generation f-body. They have one for the rear, but not the front, and I'll bet they won't since there is no way to reach their style of adjuster..... and well it's been over 10 years the car has been around and they haven't seen fit to make it yet.

FWIW.

What's your budget?

call Sam and go with Bilstein HDs or Koni SAs, as your budget allows.

Do a search on this and you will find TONS of info. HDs made mine a new car but after riding in a Koni car, wish I'd saved up and gone that route.

Good luck!

Sam Talked me into some Konis. I should be getting them next week along with the Hotchkis springs. The handling will be awesome. I can't wait.
