I need some help. I have a 96 WS-6 that has been
lowered (was told 2") This thing rides like a wagon,
it will jar your teeth out with just filled cracks across
the road. It rides great on a very smooth road, but
city streets that have had work will make you sick
with the hard banging suspension. I would like to
keep the stance, but hate the ride. Is it possible to
improve the ride without raising the car?
I would like to know how to identify what I have so
I dont wind up getting the same thing I already have.
Don't know if it matters but just in case you need more
info. car has solid control arms, adj panhard bar, sub
frame connectors. Any tips or suggestions would be
appreciated.
Thanks!

I had a 5.0L mustang that was lowered 2 inches, the ride was horrible, every hole, bump, or crack was felt! felt like the car was gonna rattle apart! The only thing that helped was putting new tokico struts and shocks on it. a little pricey but def worth it!

You need better springs and maybe shocks. I have a set of cut stock springs for sale ($100) that will fix that. Or, get a set of Strano's lowering springs--which I'm running now. The Strano's are a little stiffer than stock. I've been in lots of lowered cars with crappy rides and you can get around that. That's why I originally cut my springs. Nice soft ride.

whoever lowered the car probably left the stock shocks in, or some cheap stock replacements. either that, or they used to be good shocks, but are just worn out really badly.
if you know exactly what kind of springs you have, and the rate of the springs, you can get some revalved bilsteins (although, if i remember correctly, there's a long wait for them to become available) that are valved especially for the springs, if you want something on the cheap.....or you can go for the better (and more expensive) option and get some adjustable Koni's and adjust them to suit the springs that are on the car.
or to make it even easier, just get all new springs & shocks that are tuned to work together....that way, you get new stuff with a warranty, and you will then know **exactly** what you have on the car.
most any other option is pretty much going to be a waste of time and/or money

When I got the car the old owner told me he put
aftermarket lowering springs on it. So, is there a
way to tell by looking at the springs what they are?
Certain color = this brand, etc.
Or, is the original guy who put them on the only
person who could identify what they are.
I would hate to replace the springs if they are good
and only need new shocks.
I appreciate everyones help so far!
Thanks

That will probably be just as bad or worse.
