i personally dont use a grease gun.
i take the arm off the car and pull the halves off and lube the outside of the sleeve and the inside of the halves and reassemble the bushings and reinstall the arms

I greased my Panhard bushings (Hotchkiss with zerks) and the
hydraulic force of the grease spread the mount ears apart,
made a new clunk. I had to add fender washers outboard and
re-grief it tight. Pump 'til she gushes is my motto.

2-3 pumps is perfect, watch until you see it coming out around the bolt. The bushings are fluted, this allows the grease to pass through the sleeve and to the oustside of the bushing. If you overgrease them if it will bulge the bushings and could ruin them as Jimmy mentioned.
Hope that helps!

also in this same vein of discussion, what's the right type of grease to use on the poly bushings? i have the UMI poly/rod LCA's, and IIRC, i think i read that it should only be synthetic grease, and not the "normal" black stuff, because the black stuff will make the bushings soft....is that right?
i ask because i was looking under the car the other day, and when i took my car to have the oil changed, i think they pumped the normal black grease in my LCA zerks, there was that black grease all over the zerks.....![MAD](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_mad.gif)
i've been using that red, synthetic grease on my poly bushings on my sway bars & LCA's.
or is this all off-base, and it doesn't really matter?

Yes a marine type grease is best to use, it will be white and sticky. The other chassis grease is fine, however what happens is when it gets hot it turns into a running liquid. A good high quality grease will not do this. But if they used a basic chassis grease that is fine.
I haven't greased mine on my daily driver in over 5,000 miles and no squeaks. Try loosening them up and re-tigthening them with the suspension loaded ,they good be in a bind.
Hope that helps,
Ryan
