Is this thing worth trying out?
I finished the rear shocks/springs and am going to do the front. The Autozone compressor is the type that you have to put down through the spring, so it won't work for the front as the shock is obviously in the way.

Here is the one we got- http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=43753
Those other ones work OK, but once they are used so many times they strip and are no good. At least the ones you by at Advance Auto are junk. So far the one above has worked good.

Well the spring comprssor worked, but was a PITA as most people told me to expect. Unlike the how to write up, I used an impact wrench to tighten it down because when using the wratchet, once the tension builds on the spring compressor it's nearly impossible to compress it any further without the spring/shock trying to turn over. I just did a little bit each side and it worked flawlessly.

I don't think the cheapie HF units are made for comerical use so don't plan on using these more than a few times.
Obviously, messsing with springs can be hazardous to your health, so be careful!

I have the exact compressor as mentioned by UMI Performance - works well and is made well.
Nice thing about that model is the fact that when you turn the screw, it compresses both sides evenly and at the same time. The individual style is a PITA cause you have to first tighten one side a bit, then do the other, then back to the first, etc.
