Default Wheel shakes violently under 50 mph

Car is a 2k2 camaro with sportline's, everything else stock

My steering is ridiculously loose (to the point of scary), car walks all over the road. I have to turn the wheel approximately 15 degrees to each side just to keep it straight on the road. (been like this since before spring install)

When under 50 mph, when the wheel is dead center the whole car and wheel shake violently, if I move the wheel to the side it will stop, so I have to kind of hold it to one side while driving to keep the shaking from happening.

I've checked all the wheels, everything's tight. I went today and got it aligned and was told my power steering rack seems to be loose. i'll post the printout when I get a chance.

What else could be causing this?, would a loose power steering rack? How do I tighten it?

Thanks in advance

Also could be your tires are improperly balanced. Just one more thing to consider for the wheel shake.

Make sure your steering rack is bolted down properly, and that your tie rods are okay. Friend had a similar problem and that was it.

Check your wheel bearings/hub for slop/wear also. I saw one a few weeks ago that was about to come appart on a Camaro. It was also doing the same thing you described.

have you hit anything recently? i doubt it but there is a small possibility you bent a wheel.

well, figured it out. Had a buddy jiggle my wheel while I was under the car and saw the steering rack move back and forth on the k-member with ease. Tightened both bolts holding it down (they were both handtight) it fixed all my problems, luckily an easy fix... still a feels a tiny bit wobbly (just nitpicking), but this is the best It has felt since i've owned the car. got tie rod ends and ball joints on the way, hopefully it will fix it

This seems to be a common problem...I've had it happen to both my TA's.....the bolts work loose and steering goes to hell....
