Default Torque Arm Install

Okay tomorrow I'll be installing my UMI body mounted torque arm. My question is can I just jack the back of the car up to do it? or does the car need to be completely level? For some reason I thought it needed to be level to set the pinion angle. Maybe I'm wrong but thats why i'm here askin

To install it go ahead and jack it up. Just make sure everything is square before you tighten all the bolts. Same as any other suspension parts. It's only 6 bolts to install. Not hard at all. We installed my BMR in under 45 mins. and that's including the time it took to Fab up a cross brace from scratch. You will already have one pre-made.

To set the pinion angle you are right the suspension needs to be loaded. Actually i have heard that some guys set the pinion with the driver or the weight of the driver in the seat. I have done it this way with success.

but can I do this while leaving the front of the car on the ground and just putting the back wheels on ramps while measuring the pinion angle?

That's how i installed mine. But i'm not sure if you can set the pinion angle like that..... Might be too much of a weight shift, loading the suspension incorrectly.

If you have the *** end only up in the air, the pinion angle gauge cannot provide an accurate measure; right?

Unfortunately, the car needs to be level to do this accurately. If the back end is raised, there will be extra weight on the front suspension and not enough weight on the rear suspension.

When it comes time to set the pinion angle, feel free to watch our new video on setting pinion angle. It is on the front page of our website at www.bmrfabrication.com

Good luck!!

ok so I got my torque arm in and I'm adjusting my pinion angle but I cannot get the adjuster to move for anything..is there any special tricks? I've tried moving it when the suspension was loaded and unloaded and both times was extremely hard to move
