tunnel mount vs tranny mount
#2
The tranny does a poor job of handling the stress of keeping the rear in place. Transmission mounts frequently break on these cars as a result of the pressure from the torque arm, and occasionally I hear of someone breaking or cracking the transmission tailshaft.
We have found the BMR trak pak shown here for the majority of the cars.

For the serious dragstrip cars we recommend the Xtreme torque arm from BMR.

Here are pic's of what can happen to the factory torque arm, which is why I recommend replacing it. Bobhttp://www.exoticperformanceplus.com/services.php?service=58

I have a couple of questions..... 1.) Will the BMR Trak Pak work with the Moser 9" i'm installing soon? 2.) What kind of "additional road noise" are you talking about with the use of the BMR Trak Pak?

I have the BMR Trak Pak and it is awesome. You feel a lil bit of drivetrain vibration, but its the same as going with a PBH and LCA's type vibration. A good one, not bad. A tad bit noisier, nothing 1-2 clicks higher on the radio can't cure.
The only thing some gripe about is the clunking. It is the arm being loaded and unloaded. It is a very low clunk at random times, when you get on the gas. Nothing major. I have gotten used to it.

I personally don't care for tunnel mount arms due to where they are attached. That's some flimsy looking sheet metal right there...
I went for a tranny mount (UMI adjustable), and if I ever get serious at the track, I'll throw on a new transmission crossmember that gets the mount off of the tailshaft. Lots of great options out there these days...

I had a Spohn chassis mount TA and I did not like the vibration and clunking. I couldn't use it with my true duals, so I got a UMI tranny mount TA but also got their front torque arm relocation crossmember. It moves the front mount from the tailshaft to the transmission crossmember. It's good and solid, bites hard, and doesn't transmit nearly the noise and vibration that the Spohn did.
