alignment specs for a 1.2" lowered car
alignment specs for a car with vogtland lowering lowering springs. 1.2 inch lowering springs i wanted to know what would be the best alignment specs for it without sacrificing too much tire life

What are your goals? For best handling, lots of negative camber (up to -1.5), max caster, and zero toe (or a bit of toe out for auto-x).
For just daily driving, -.5 camber, 4-5 caster, 1/8" toe in.

I would try to get the alignment as tire wear friendly as possible if you only drive on the street. Stock alignment wears out the outside edges. I had no issues on 0 toe with stability and summer tires. I would try to figure out what best caster and camber setting would be for tire wear.

What is it about -.5 that is better than 0 camber? If the car went straight all the time, I would imagine that 0 camber would be best. But since it doesn't, I'm assuming -.5 appears to be the target point that makes the car happy between turns and going straight?

Toe kills tires faster than camber does, and -.5 is not much at all. It is just enough to promote even wear with "aggressive" street driving, but not enough to kill tires.
