Search around a bit for Bilsteins and DeCarbons. There's a wealth of info on them in this forum. The DeCarbons are pretty useless well before 50k. There's various types of Bilsteins out there, and most I wouldn't use new never mind used. It depends on how much your spending on them. They can't be worse than the DeCarbons, so if they were borderline free, they might be a decent deal. Messing with spring compressers is something I only want to do once though.

The Bilsteins have a lot more life than 50K, plus you can have them rebuilt could turn out good for in the long run.

Well the problem is that I only know that there is a few variations of HDs and I don't know how to tell the differences between them . Sam Strano has made posts in the past about the valving differences. I'm not sure if there's a way to tell the difference between the models or not.

Though I just wanted to make you aware that there are differently valved HDs floating around. I have no experience on them. I only go by what I've heard.

Part numbers are different. No, I'm not going to go through them all. HD's have never been right for lowering springs, running them on lowering springs doesn't do them any good. I don't know what you can get them for from your friend. If it's cheap, go ahead and try.

These days I've been using more and more KYB AGX's when Koni's are not an option for any reason, and in your case we could also use Tokico's @ $345 a set as alternatives given your stock springs.

I'll sell them to you cheap, Wade...That being said, Sam, you might be getting a phone call soon from me getting some advice on my setup. So far, I'm pretty set on the Koni's with all the good words spoken about them and with my tax return check coming in.

They don't seem to be blown out or anything, no leaking oil and they don't bounce around a lot like a blown out shock would be. That may not mean much, but like I said, they don't seem to be blown out or worn into a piece of crap.

i know how good of shape your car is in, and i know you wouldnt ride around on a blown shock. but if it would benifit me to send them in and have them rebuilt, i definitely want to do it. i hope you didnt get offended by me making this thread, it wasnt a stab at you at all.

By no means, I hope you do enough research to make an educated decision. I just said I would be selling them once I get the Koni's...which I hope is soon. No hard feelings, my friend.
