SLP suspension kit 70001 or Prokit and Bilsteins, Koni's ect
I have a 1996 V6 camaro and want to lower it. I mainly want to lower it for cosmetic reasons. I want to keep a comfortable ride with a sporty edge. I can get a good deal on the level one suspension kit but I don't know if this will lower my car enough. I was told by the company that it would lower my car 3/4 an inch. Should I do this or get a pro kit? If I go with the pro kit what shocks should I get (Bilsteins, Koni, Tokico, Monroe sensor track). I hate my 4X4 look!!!!
Thanks for the help to the newbie

I'm talking about the entire suspension kit. I am not going to use stock shocks. I want a good ride quality. This is what I'm talking about http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...RTNUMBER=70001 or should I just get pro kit with Bilsteins or some other shock.

I honestly have not ridden in a car with that suspension, but I would go with Eibach's and revalved Bilsteins ( Sam Strano ). Or if money is OK, get the Koni's. Or if money really is no biggie, get the ground over coil setup from LGMotorsports. Let's you adjust all you want. Cannibal has a point though, the Eibach's might be 2 much for ya ( lowered a good 1.5" ).

I talked to Sam Strano and its going to be about $480 for shocks alone. I'm sure htey are fantastic but I'm not sure if that is just overkill for my uses. I can get the SLP kit which included 32mm front sway bar, revalved bilsteins, slp eibach springs, panhard rod and lca all brand b=new shipped to my door for $650.00. Is there any reason I should get the Pro kit and Sam Stranos revalves for $760 to my door over this kit? It costs more and I get less. Remember my car is just a dialy driver. I'm looking for apperance and drivalbility.

It's just hard for me to justify spending $500 on shocks for a daily driver. If I wsa racing or somthing I might be able to justify it.

Re: SLP suspnetion kit 70001 or Prokit and Bilsteins, Koni's ect
I have had both the SLP 70001 and Pro-kit/Koni SA combo on my T/A. Here are my thoughts. The SLP kit is great for a daily driver. The ride is much better than the Pro-kit setup, and actually better than stock. Handling with the SLP kit is better than stock. The 1LE LCA's that come with the SLP kit offer an upgrade over stock, without the ride and maintenance issues that poly or rod ends have. In short, I really like the 70001. So why did I switch; well mainly because the progressive springs are weird on a road course. The handling of the Pro-kit/Koni/aluminum LCA's with rod ends is better for sure, but the ride is brutal, and the car is too low to drive everyday with LT's. Since you are not racing the car, I think you will be very happy with the SLP suspension, and would suggest avoiding the 70001a as poly bushings can be high maintenance and noisy. Here are a couple photos to show drop:

Wow that look sgreat. I love the drop. Is it a bit lower cause you have the koni adjustables or would it be that low with the bilstens? The guy I was talking to said I would only get a 3/4 inch drop on my V6. Do you think that is enough to get rid of the wheel gap with my C5's?
Thanks

The bottom photo is with the Pro-kit, the middle one with the SLP Eibach's and top is stock. Shocks should not change ride height (well the Koni's do have a 3/4" lower perch but I am using the stock height perch).

I like the look of th eprokit better but if the ride sucks then its probally not worth it. I like those wheels on your car. I was wondering how they would look on mine.

"Pro-kit/Koni/aluminum LCA's with rod ends is better for sure, but the ride is brutal"
It's driver interpretation of course ( no slams to you 98_1LE! ) but mine rides like a dream with prokit, rod-end LCA's and revalved Bilstein shocks, and I don't have problems with LT's.

Re: SLP suspnetion kit 70001 or Prokit and Bilsteins, Koni's ect
The SLP Eibach's will only drop it 3/4" to 1", you will have to decided if that is enough. The Pro-kit was another inch lower on my car.
Probably accounts for a ride difference, but the height would be the same with Koni's or Bilsteins. Brutal may have been a bit strong, but over some rough streets it will shake the car pretty good, especially with stiff sidewall tires. I have to be extremely careful around here, but maybe the roads are better where you live. There are stores I cannot go to because my car will not get in or out of the lot.
I didn't have them, and never had any problems.
The koni shocks are what make the difference to his ride compared to yours.

With the SLP 70001 kit is there a need for an adjustable panhard or LCA relocators?
