okay, let me first start off by saying that i have an 02ss, with just a touch over 40k miles, and i ran into a fairly good deal with buying new front and rear ebc dimpled and slotted rotors with green stuff pads.

okay, they say be easy the first 300 miles or so, so i do, i dont be hard on them till nearly a 1k miles, now once decellerating from like 60mph to a dead stop, just even firm pressure, i hear like bug noises or the noise a fly makes when wizzing by at all four corners and a pretty low vibration/ groan,

i dont know what to do, how i should go about contacting ebc as i bought these on close out from pep boys with by buddys discount. he says he cant get my money back, i know for damn sure ebc wont give a **** without a legit reciept, i dont know what to do?

i really thought this brake setup would outdo stock and be sort of the end all when it comes to street driving, guess not,

i really feel i got a defective product here, any insight would be great

Suck up the loss, get a cheap *** set to replace them then go for a Hawk HPS set when you have the $$

My autozoo replacement rotors and "duralast gold" pads are frickin awesome. Cost me like 50$ a wheel too. I would say something about bedding the brakes in and that 300 mile garbage but I don't feel like starting a flame war.

what do you mean starting a flame war? im confused, the manufacturer says 300 miles minimum sometimes extending to 1k miles.

Mine make the same noise at times on the eclipse. It stops the same so it doesnt really concern me. Just part of having slotted rotors I think.

I have slotted rotors and there is a bit of a rumbling when stopping. It is caused by the slots rubbing against the pads. Not sure what you mean by the bug noises though.

I bought the whole EBC setup myself. Their is an inherent flaw in the rotors that makes this sound, I had it too. I switched to AutoZone stuff, there was no noise but I didn't stop as well. So for my final solution I used the EBC pads on autozone rotors and couldn't be happier.

see, maybe this is wishfull thinking, but i refuse to use korean **** on my car, so the auto zone thing is out of the picture, maybe ill try turning them and see what that does, the pads do dust less which is cool.

the bug noise thing is weird, i wish you guys could hear it,

Doesn't require 300 miles to bed in pads, just a proper procedure that takes 20 mins worth of driving.

First jack it up and take the wheels off. With some sandpaper scuff both sides of each rotor. You can also inspect the pads for any unevenness. Rub the pad on flat concrete to scuff it up and get it even. Make sure you scuff it up fairly well.

Reinstall everything and take it for a drive. Find an open road where you can do stop starts. Note that this should be a bit more aggresive than normal stopping, but still far from a panic stop. Bring up to 15 mph, then stop, bring it up to 25 mph then stop. Repeat a few times. Next bring it up to 45mph then slow to 20 mph. Repeat this a few times. After 20 mins of this, you should have a good layer on the brakes. You can drive normally at this point and even get in a panic stop or 2 without worrying that it will warp or put too much material on it to cause vibration.

This has worked fine for me on all my f-body cars, I've been able to hit the track the next day and do hot laps on the 1/4 mile with no issues.

The noise is from the rotors themself. I tried everything to get the noise to go away I even tried lefts on the rights and vice versa. There is a design flaw in the rotor slots that causes the noise. If the EBC where only drilled then It wouldn't be a problem it is the slots that are causing the noise. I even had the dealership tell me it was the bearings in the rear end. I took my car from there before they had a chance to ruin the rear end! Just put some non slotted rotors on I would almost garantee 99% of the noise will go away. The Green stuff pads do grab nice and I still use the pads just never again with the rotors.

i am going to try turning them at my shop, just slow passes taking 1 thousandth off at a time, probably about 2 to 4 passes, then bed in like you said, that is exactly how i bedded them in when they were new, i will try again thanks for the tips,

yeah i figured the 5 slot design rather then the 3 would be most of the whizzing noise but the vibration and growling is another story, its unacceptable.

My brakes my the same noises, but they stop great and don't make much dust. I couldnt be happier!

I had ebc rotors/pads on my last car and they made noise. On my SS I have powerslots with hawks pads and I get no noise. I also thought the ebc's performed like crap imo.

i agree, with my specific setup, sometimes they stop great, other times the vibration is so harsh you wanna pull your foot off of the pedal

The Duralast rotors are actually really good. I didn't believe it either until I had a friend of mine who is a manager at Auto Zoo order a set in for me. I think they are almost twice as thick as stock rotors.

I flat sanded my stock pads, they only had 30,xxx miles on them, and they worked fine. When I do my strano spring/koni install later this month I am going to put some hawk pads on.

i dont know what you mean by thick, the rotor cant exceed oem specs by more than 3 thousands bigger or smaller, i believe you that your auto zone rotors worked good for you, but i have had the oem's not work for me,
