Default xlr calipers on f body?

i just bought a set of xlr calipers thinking that they are the same as the c5 calipers. i just want to make sure they are the same before i start tearing my wheels off. and i do have all the parts for a c5 brake conversion minus pads.

so the question....xlr calipers=c5 calipers?

they do look the same.....thats why since the xlr is basically a corvette with a northstar...the calipers would be the same and made the same but thanks for your opinion...and thoughts...no not really.

XLR is based off the C6 platform, not the C5. I'm not sure if the C6 calipers are any different though.

C5 and C6 brakes are interchangeable. I think you can even get the C6 Z06 brakes on it with just the C5 brackets. Not 100%, but since C5 and C6 are interchangeable, and I've see that the C6 and Z06 are as well, I don't see why not.

What is the reason you want to change calipers?

Right, u just have a few posts with usless opinions, and nothing to contribute.

AP racing makes a big brake kit you can see here
http://www.stillen.com/newproducts.asp?id=46
that was manufactured for both the C6 corvette and the XLR. The C5 and C6 calipers are different, but have the same mounting points and dimentions. Therefore, the C5 calipers and the XLR calipers should be compatible. Seeing as how GM likes to brand engineer cars, I doubt they changed the mounting bolt dimentions on the brake calipers between 2 models on the same chassis.

The brake pads for both vehicles (XLR and Corvette) are also the same part number form GM (GM PART #88909668) and all aftermarket pads are advertised for both vehicles. http://www.sportcompactonly.com/Cadi...s_c-92_m-5.htm

I think your safe to use the XLR calipers.

Hope your next few posts are better than your first few...

a few GM cars use similar calipers: xlr, corvette, gto (05, 06) and all are made by PBR. they will all bolt up to your factory location with the stock size rotor, or with a c5 conversion bracket for the larger rotor.
