4L60E can suck my a$$
I smoked another one today. This makes number three in 8 months. The first two were stock so it was kind of expected, but the third was build by a sponsor here.(no I won't tell you who built it) I know that I am kind of hard on the trans but give me a break. Not one of them has lasted more than about 2000 miles and a couple of track passes. I have never been a fan of auto cars and this is the final straw for me. With that being said, I need a T-56 and everything to make the swap. If you know where I can find this let me know. Perfer it be in the Houston area but will consider paying for shipping if needed.
Thanks
James
EDIT: Just found out they are no longer listed as a sponsor here.

I went through a 4L60E once before. It had 124,000 miles on it when I bought it. Guess it wasn't that good of an idea down shifting it manually, lol. That's what happens when your 16 yrs. old and throw some races down, haha. Well atleas for me..

I had two A4 f-bodies and now have an M6 f-body. I like having an M6 for when I cruise around town and also when I go out of town because of the nice gas mileage, though sometimes I wish I had an A4 that way I can throw a stall on it and run some good times whenever I take it to the tracks.

Ahhhh yes.... the ole' A2 for M6 swap! See it happen all the time when the "built" 4L60E fails. Then it's all about the clutch rotation... single disc, twin disc, organic, ceramic and so on. The hydraulic system failures the synchros failing and getting pissed off about the M6 and then going to a 3 speed automatic.
If I had to guess I would say that your unit lost the 3/4 clutches and it had the Raybestos Z-pack. Go ahead, ask me how I know.
I would like to interject some comments about the swap you are considering. We currently have 2 grenaded T-56's on our benches. We also have a M6 to A3 (TH400) conversion that rolled in this weekend from out of state. There is a smoked Textralia clutch, a smoked Ram clutch at my shop... right now. I spoke to a client about his hydraulics going wacky at very high rpm's yesterday. We have replaced every clutch you can think of in countless combinations. I have seen "Built" units last a sum total of 4 dyno pulls and 2 track passes... personally stood there and watched a well known vendors "badd ***" unit fail miserably.
My point is, there is going to be a hassle and it can expensive regardless of whichever powertrain you choose to run.
Sorry to see you having the problems you are. You stated that the unit in the car is from a Sponsor here.... would it not still be under warranty if it failed inside 2,000 miles? If so, ask for a warranty repair.
