Anybody ever replaced their dash pad?
The one with the vents in it, and the headlight sensor?
Also how hard was it to replace?
Mine cracked today, while I was driving...
I found one on-line, and was wondering....

There are "velcro" patches in various spots. And they hold, good.
Since the old one is cracked, taking it out should be easy, and during the process you'll see where the spots are that it attaches...
My new one had padding already attached to it, while the padding on the old one stays with the car as it is attached to the upper portion of the dash structure.... You can leave the pre-attached new one but it may take a few days in the sun to fully shape to the dash. Or you might just remove it. Either way, it'll fit with a little work.
The new one will flex a decent bit, enough to get it in.
Remove your pillars prior to installation, they clip on. Start at the rear section, like your sitting the the seat, reach back behind and above your head, and pull out at a 45° angle, they should pop right out, and make sure the metal clip is still attached, the rest of the pillar follows the same concept, once it is loose, its easiest to just pass it through the center of the car and lay it across the rear seat, thus to not scratch anything or shizzle.
The pad will pop up on the front, and it'll most likely shatter if it is indeed the stock pad. once it is out its a good idea to clean up the structure and maybe dust out the vent, And clean the winsheild real good without having to worry about the pad getting chemicals on it. Also, you may want to put a bit of masking tape over the inspection and registration stickers to prevent any lifting if you accidentally drag the new pad over it.
Also, the new pad will probably have sharp *** corners, mine did, awesome design, it'll cut straight to the bone, I Loved it.
I found that sitting in the passengers seat made this job easiest. You will have to flex it a bit to make it go into location between the pillars. Once you have it in place, and all your gaps are to your liking, start pressing it into the velcro anchor points starting from the center of the windsheild working your way out.
Its not hard, but be careful or you'll ruin a new pad.
PS, mine was $229 with an employee discount from GM, and it wasn't even an actual GM part once I inspected it.

go to GMPartsDirect for the best price on that part. Its easy to replace, its normal for them to crack. I wish GM would come out with revamped versions that are maybe alot more durable so that we wouldnt have to pay out the *** for this crappy piece of plastic. I had to replace mine on my 96 already and need to replace one on my 95.

My original dashpad cracked above the glovebox first and then kept growing all summer. I bought a used one on here for $150 shipped and replaced it about a month ago. If you have t-tops its really easy. Pop off the pillars then rip out the old pad (it'll pretty much explode during removal), make sure to take out the security light (it takes like a quarter turn and pulls right out). The pad is held down by velcro near the windshield and pressure clips near the seam away from the windshield. Make sure to get all of the pressure clips out of their holes after the old dash is out. I missed one and had to pull it out with the new pad partially installed its a PITA. Then just put the new one in, attach the security light, get it lined up above the clip recepticles and then press down carefully not to break the new one. Pop the pillars back on and ur done. It took me maybe 30 minutes.
Oh yeah and RickyMartinZ28 is right. I cut the **** out of my hands when the old one was breaking and on the edge of the new one. May want to watch out for that. Enjoy!

But what color is it? Dark grey, beige...? I had to recently replace mine, but NOW, my actual DASH has cracks. Right around my passenger airbag. Anyone know how to fix those?
