Default Dealer License

If you have a company with an official registered DBA and Tax ID# how do you go about obtaining a commercial dealer license?

I would like to utilize my business and access dealer auctions for company vehicles. Any ideas? Anyone gone through the process before?

In the Houston area specifically, where do these auctions typically take place? Thanks for any tips.

I know you have to apply for it and pay a fee of like $500 or something like that but i also believe you have to have some form of car "lot" although that can be overcome in diffrent ways.

I guess my next question is, I wonder if there is a "John Doe" that would let me accompany him at a dealer auction, for say a certain dollar amount, and let em pay cash for a vehicle. Just a hypothetical shot in the dark conversational food for thought idea, quasi-question. That's all.

hopefully u notice that it not a good idea. but if ur stuck on go then i can list the steps 4 u.

1. go 2 a dealer class one time only a couple of hours.

2. take the dmv test not ur normal dmv though there sepperate.

3. on passing the test they will give u a dealer aplication packet this is where it gets annoying (and really really expensive) trust me

4. finish up packet which is making a company corporation etcetc hand 2 inspector he will inspect

5. find buisness residence u have 2 do the contract before u get ur license (extremely risky) show it 2 inspector he inspects the premises if he passes u then u just need insurance.

basically alot of risks but the packet is so big expect 2 take atleast a month if u spend day in and out on it.

It is $700 fee for the first year. You have to have a surity bond. A place to park and show at least 5 vehicles, a sign with minimum 6" lettering. You then have to have a dedicated business phone line strictly for the car sales business. you can go to the Texas department of transportation and they have a place where you can print out all of the forms required and another sheet with all of the requirements.
