Default What does ls1tech think about this tool box?

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...000B?adCell=A3

Want to upgrade from my cheap *** box that I have now since the drawers fall off like every 10 times I open it...

Anybody know of a better buy out there? Keep in mind this is going in my 2 car garage at home.

I don't have that particular model, but I have a craftsman box. Like it.

I have that same bottom box. The bottom drawer took a dump recently, but I don't think mine has the ball bearing style drawers. All my heaviest **** is down there anyway.

I want this one. It's big, and pretty cheap. Powdercoated, ball bearing drawers, big casters, etc. No fawking way I'm paying thousands of bucks for a toolbox. I saw this one at the Harbor Freight store and it seemed pretty legit. If I was working on cars for a living I may have a nice one, but no need yet.

I saw a Snap-On box at one of the sponsors shops that has freaking suspension on it. It was SUPER nice.

I have a snap on box and yes it was over priced but 11 years later no rust and holding up great. Befor buying the snap on I had a craftsman and had trouble with the bearings in the drawers.

Yea, I would think that being ball bearing would make a decent difference on how it performs/lasts? I wish I could get a snap-on but a similar one is probably a good $2500+. I'm like you though, I just work on my car and my buddies will bring their cars over when they need big mods

How long until the bearings started giving you problems?

Snap-on is the BEST. Unfortunately, they are also the most expensive.

If you keep your eye on Amazon.com for Waterloo boxes, you can scoop up some good deals.

This box:

http://www.amazon.com/Waterloo-PMX41...9?ie=UTF8&s=hi

Was $413 shipped last week. I kid you not.

They've had a 42" top box for $323 as well. I'm waiting for that one to come back around again.

Just be patient.

I too am not too keen on Craftsman boxes any more. They're using really thin metal these days. I've got a couple of their newer ball bearing drawer setups, they're OK for my paint guns and sandpaper, but I wouldn't stack my tools in them.

If your into the squared off drawer lips and old school designs. I personally have a mac at work and love it. If I could afford it I would have it at home, but no way in hell. I have a craftsman almost like the one pictured. For a homeowner box it gets the job done. I love my mac better, or a snap on would be better, but for a home garage a craftsman box gets the job done. This is coming from a pro, ie me!

about a year but also I was working as a automotive tech and those drawers got used alot. The snap-on may be a little overkill for home use but when my buddies come over they are like damn you have SNAP-ON tools.

I think that is the same box as one of mine. The ball bearing boxes are nice. Completely happy with mine.

My father used to sell Snap-on back in the 80's. I know first hand the quality of these tools. But I agree, craftsman gets it done for 90% of what I need. I do have some combo wrenches and a combination screwdriver from Snap-on, but 90% of my tools are craftsmen. There simply is no better value.

off topic: dad has ALOT of snap-on tools, but most of them have other peoples names scribed on them because when they wouldn't make the payments, he'd repo the tools and keep them for himself. LOL. That was about the only way he could afford to have snap-on tools. Decades later, the tools are still like new...

My friends boss has a Snap-On 3/8" drive ratchet. I put a socket on it and clicked the ratchet around. I popped a half stiff. I think I will buy a ratchet and 1 other tool so I can tell people "I use Snap-On tools".
