400 hp 78 camaro
#61
they are out there, but for teenager with limited knowledge of motors and transmissions, wiring and fuel, this could potentially be more expensive and very lengthy process. it would be badass though... there is a shop in keller that is swapping out a 305 for an lt4 that is lightly modified that will make around 400hp to the tire. They are building the car from the ground up and front to back, but it's gonna cost the guy well over $15000 for parts and labor. Still a good idea if he has the funds...

idk wtf some of you guys are talking about my dads 79z is a 356 and running 400+whps
Build your car right.
my cuzins 77 camaro has a 305 with a ******* big *** cam heads, headers, TDs everything
and hes pushing 300+
and 200bhp seems kinda low, what kind of exhaust setup do you have? come to think about it.. in 78 could you even get a 350 from the factory? Are you sure you don't have a 305?

yeah, stock my car was 170, the 305 had around 145, the motor is bored .30 over with a 282 cam, that all to the motor, exhaust is flowmasters with stock exhaust manifold, aparently my tubibg is to small aswell its a 2in all the way back and its supose to be 2.5.
this is my first car that was ment 4 me not one my parents handed down to me or were like just drive this, and its what ive wanted a camaro of that body. my first car was my sister, then my dads truck, then my grampas truck(the 67), *** much as i want to just drop a faster motor its the original in there right know and i want to keep it that way, for the most part. know i want another camaro later on that i want to drop a 327 in and go from there, but till that time comes i want to try and get the fastest 78 camaro with the original motor

well the 79z28 is original 350 (I think) bored .30 over
and the 77 type LT has had alott of motors, hes had a few 350s but now has a 305.
I have a pic of the 79z engine bay but its being worked on right now, its a original owner car still in factory paint and never been wrecked. the only reason its not running is because its getting some new headers put in.

well like i said the 79 is 400+ at the wheels i dont know touqe specs.
You should start with headers and a new Y pipe, or even get true duels. the 2nd gens sit high enough off the ground that if you get some new longtube headers and 3" duels you will feel a big power increase. You already have a cam, is it a auto tranny?

yeah its an auto, i have a m&m quick silver shifter in it, what is the y tube or "true duels" i will take a pick of under the car and sho u what i have. i found a piar of longtube stainless steel ceramic coated for around 250 with shipping, is that a good deal?

Gears would help, the 77 has 4:10s in it. True duels is just a pipe that runs from both headers back out the car, a Y pipe will murge the 2 headers into 1 pipe that goes to the muffler
