Default texas ticket for non DOT tires?

whats the ticket for rolling on DOT tires? I got some Prostars and the front runners are DOT but the rears are slicks, Thanks Cody lol. I wanna drive the car with em on cuz in the 2 1/2 years ive had the car ive never felt it dead hook. I know the ET Drags will but im a little weary of the ticket.
Im sort of well know for breaking rules but if its more than 500 bucks im out lol

Anybody know any details of the ticket for illegal tires?

i dont think cops will pull you over for that... iunno they might... but to me thats kinda like how cops dont pull you over cause you have no cats... they dont know... iunno i may be wrong cause tires are clearly visable...

Havin too dark of tint is the same way, it seems that only the state troopers bother with it. no cats, tint, having high pressure bottles secured correctly ( o2 welding equipment ) etc.

Ive had HPD laugh about my 2% tint before, they didnt give a **** in the world but eventualy a state trooper wrote me a ticket for it. paid a tint shop 50 bucks to write me a reciept saying they took my tint off, ticket dismissed LOL se habla espanol ROFLMAO

back in the good old days i used to roll all over h-town on my 28x10 hoosiers to rankin/goodnight/etc. never had any problems. they might getcha for it if they pull you over for something else (like speeding, etc) just dont act like a dumbass and you'll be fine. P.S. it gets interesting with slicks on the highway, especially lane changing. be careful.

tribaltalon- thanks for the warning on the freeway, never though about that. when i got busted for 2% tint he pulled me over for no front plate

XplicitPerformance, i completed the set dude!!!! thanks.

How bad are they in the rain? I know theyve gotta be squirrley but just how squirrely? Im not intentionally driving em in the rain but sprinklers and drizzles and id like to know ahead of time cuz i will get caught out.
I used to have a sport bike, i already know ima get stuck in the rain.

If they're anything like my bald ET Streets were, it's like driving on ice in the rain. I nearly wrecked my T/A just doing 30mph over a slight hill with a curve, tires broke loose and there was no saving it. I was only giving it enough throttle to move forward, luckily there was no one around me or else I would have hit them.

My car is twitchy with regular summer tires in the rain...Im sure drag radials would be scary; something I would not try personally.

If you run a tire size that doesnt balloon the sidewall they can be very stable on the freeway. You do faster speeds on the track, think about it. The rain thing with et streets or et drags is VERY dangerous. I had et streets on my camaro. It came a downpour and had to drive 10 miles to the house. I couldnt do more than about 8-10 miles and hour without the rearend coming around. The car felt like you were floating and hydroplaning the same time.

well guys, i lasted 2 days total. Radar says no rain for 200 miles so i went to a buddys house sunday night on my et drags and we shot the **** for a couple hours, decided to take off. double checked the weather, no rain for 200 miles. left his house, got like half a mile and it started raining, rained the whole F** way home. I rocked the feeder road at 20 mph. we work nights so this was like 3 am, nobody on the roads so i gently nursed it home.

like i said before, i knew that no matter how careful i was, no matter all the precaution i could take, id get caught with my shorts down. figured id last more than 2 days though, put em on Saturday morn, caught in the rain monday morn.

If you want a ton of hook and no ticket et streets will hook just as good but are DOT rated. Apparently you already know about the rain, I would NEVER go even over 20 on them in rain, I spun around just last weekend doing 25 on bald drag radials. Slicks are as bad or worse.

But in all honesty I personally wouldnt give a second thought to driving around on slicks with concern about the law, they dont really look at crap like that, if you are somewhere you shouldnt be and they want to nit-pick ( for example the street races ) then maybe you will get messed with, other than that im sure they will never even notice. I dont think there is even a ticket for bald tires, unless its something like operating a vehicle with unsafe equipment or some made up bs but hell tons of people drive on worn tires, so they would have to strictly be looking for the DOT rating to ticket you, thats highly unlikely to happen.

u can buy a set of 315 35 17 mickeys and hook just as hard... u dont make 500-600 off the line so u dont need those things lol.. and u can buy mickey drag radials for those prostars.. or buy another set of prostars for the back.. and put drag radials on 1 set and mickeys on another thats what im doing =)
