Just to clear it up for all the tards' in here, nothing that you "bolt on" to the outside of the motor (supercharger, nitrous, ram air, etc...) will increase the volume of displacement inside of the motor. Thus the phrase "There is no replacement for displacement".

AHHH so that's where the discrepancy between the ls1 being a 346 vs a 350 comes into play...now I get it......

*Note to self, must get ram air installed so I can have a 350 too*

On a more on topic note- I have a c6 and it isnt a z06 or a zr1 and believe me it is more power than anything that most people have ever been accostomed to. I come from a classic car background (71' chevelle 454 ss with 30,000 miles all matching #'s and a 82' el camino 350 lt1 headers, cam, and 3.5 inch flowmaster exhaust) and believe me the vette will do circles around everything I have been in. I think he should just go for it because even though gm might add horsepower they might add something else.......like the 1300 pounds they added to the 5th gen camaro. They are never going to give you too much of a + without a few -'s.

of course a C6 will run circles around those boats. ha

i think it would be awsome for the next vette to have a rear engine, but then it wouldnt be vette by heritage i guess.

Yeah, but its funny the way the older generation always think that the cars made in their time were so much faster. But dont get me wrong I never ran the chevelle but the el camino used to give some ls1's and ford 4.6's a run for their money.

You are not right and correct at the same time. They both have their pros and cons like any other motor. The LS7 is good in the sense of adding more mods to help with horsepower. Bolt ons and nitrous. I wouldnt put a blower on an LS7 simply because of the reason GM didnt. The reason they swapped from the LS7 to the LS3/9 is because of the thickness of the cylinder walls. Over time and hours of testing GM came up with the conclustion that the cylinder walls of the LS7 werent designed to handle the heat applied to them over and over again with a supercharger, which is why they used the LS3 design.
