I know thats why they used it but do all the people saying that its better know that. Apparently not because just the LS3 BLOCK being in the ZR1 makes it far superior to the LS7.

There is no way to up the litres by adding a power adder. The only way to increase the displacement is by making the cylinder bigger and making the piston come down more in the cylinder.

if you add a 88mm turbo it bumps the ci up by 23 and when you put on a cam it also bumps the ci up about 23. so if you do both then you get 59ci extra. but the best mod for these cars is turning the ls1 into a dohc so that the vtech kicks in

It does not increase displacement per se, but it does ingest enough volume of air equivalent to a larger displacement motor.

Wow, this thread got WAYYY off topic fast.

To the OP, The ZR1 IS the upped hp version. They aren't going to get rid of the LS7 anytime soon, since it's already so good. Maybe in a few years, they will do something new, but not yet. Until then, just have yourdad buy a ZR1 or a Viper SRT-10 ACR. Either way, he'll like it. Also, if he thinks THOSE are slow, I want to know what the hell he's used to driving, because that's ridiculous!

maybe the next Z06 will have variable displacement!! In Sport Mode, it'll add 100 cubic inches! In Competition Mode, 200 cubic inches!! But, in Economy Mode, it looses 300 cubic inches and transforms into a Prius!!!

I see so if you nos it, supercharge it, AND turbocharge it, it should be like 962.5ci if it is based on a stock ls1 then, right?

The LS9 is a completely different motor all together. They didn't just lower the compression, the aluminum is different in the way the block and heads are made which you are correct. The crank is forged and the rods are titanium not forged, the heads are not LS3 heads, they are an LS9 head. The heads are stamped LS9 on them, there are distinct design differences between the 2 heads. The LS7 and LS9 are a better comparison in heads. Really the only thing the LS9 and LS3 share the same are the initials LS and that is it.
