some of us have very nice LT1 cars
^^
not junk
I don't get the whole opti hate thing. i have only ever had 2 problems with my opti and either one would have happened the same way with a normal distributor. 1. a plug wire came loose and the car misfired. 2. it got wet during an engine detailing and stalled a few miles down the road and didn't start for 15 mins later when it dried out. After it started and stumbled for a little bit, it ran fine after about 5 miles. i think any car with a distributor would suffer the same problems.

not to hijack but is mine junk? I have had only one problem with my opti(rotor broke) I dont think thats too bad for 145000K.
ya there are alot of junk lt1s out there that some pos teenage kid got a hold of and f**ked up or something along those lines.
But lts can be just as nice as ls1s
It all depends on how you take care of your vehicle.

The problem is, there is not advantage a LT1 has over a SBC like a GEN III.
The LT1 cannot make any more power than a SBC with a carb. That is just the way it is. We can harp on fuel economy, but that is not what matters with a performance oriented engine.
I say junk because of all the BS involved in changing the opti and what not.
They are not that bad, but bad enough to make you want to use gas and matches at times to fix it.
Love the dummys that pay someone else to fix them ***** and then claim it is not that bad, and the havent even got any scars to show it or grease under their nails.
Dollar for dollar, a carbed SBC is way better than any LT1, so it makes them worthless to guys like me.

That's what they said the reason was. But that was not why C4C happened.
I will be really interested to see if the acid or some kind of tanking will clear the oil passages. You can get one to spin, sure enough but like was said earlier...who wants to build a motor that might be a time bomb? It would be a coup if you could reliably resurrect them though.

oh, and as far as lt1's go, i simply love em. i bought my 96 t/a over a 98 t/a and a 99 z/28 and never thought twice about it. had the opportunity to buy an IROC but i hate carburators lol.
i especially like the reverse cooling system and the cam-driven water pump. not to mention they're durable as ****. mines got 166k on the clock and it'll still hold its own against ls1's. i remember once my radiator popped and i leaked ALL of my coolant. i drove it home 20 miles thinking if i killed the motor it would give me an excuse to build a new one. i got home, replaced the radiator, runs fine no leaks and its still kickin

Liquid glass is the slang term for sodium silicate. We poored about a quart in each car and ran them at redline till they locked up. I killed ALOT of 302's and 351's. (Luckily i work for ford so i dont feel that bad lol).

You are a lucky man, i had a SMALL leak in my 95 before going SBC, bitch overheated and i instantly shut it down when i saw it sky rocket up, blew both head gaskets.
