Default Drag Radial Talk

Im looking at buying some drag radials thanks to someone who works @ discount tire helping me out. Anyways I wanted to get some opinions on whats the stickiest tire out there that helps @ the 1/4 strip. My car is only making about 330whp so I dont think I need the best thing on the market. I dont plan on driving on the street with them either as i have an extra set of wheels so longevity prob wont be an issue either.

Right now im leaning toward NT-01's cause they are the cheapest thing out there.

nittos are good for a daily driver... they will grip better than any non drag radial tire and last longer than the other drag radials but you compromise some of the grip when comparing them to other drag radials... they do ok in rain provided you're careful, so that should be another deciding factor... i never drive my car in bad weather but got caught in an unexpected storm one time and i couldn't tell a difference from dry to wet pavement under normal driving conditions... some people complain about them not appearing wide enough but that is becaue they don't have a sidewall, not that the contact area is smaller... a good thing about not having a sidewall is that if your car is lowered you may not have to roll your fenders, assuming you have an adjustable phb to get the rear centered... if you're going to be doing alot of driving, and based on your power level, i would go for the nittos, but if you will only be using them for the track then i would go for something else

DT doesn't carry them. Nitto, BFG, Yoko are the only brands I know that sell a dr.

i have the new toyo DR's(see attached pic), and well they hook pretty good on the street, better than my nittos ever did, but at the track, the M/T's are king of dr's!!!

DT can get the Toyo's. You just have to order them. The Toyo's hook way better then our BFG'S did.

For the price and you power level the Nitto is the king in my book, between lasting and hooking with the ability to drive in the rain, it is not that it is the best but the most well rounded. I will be buying yet another set when mine are no longer good for beating on.

For a street DR Toyo is better than Nitto over and over and over again. Not a lot of people have tried them, so most still say Nitto's are the best.

I have had M/T, Hoosier and Nittos. My car makes more power now then ever and I still like Nittos the best for the street and still cut a 1.6x with them at the track. I do spin them at 60-70mph but I know its going to happen. The hoosiers and m/t hook better at 1st but they lose grip once the feather up and don't have near the life. They also really suck in the rain.

I have had... BFG's, Toyo's, Mickeys, and Nittos.

As far as how they sit on the wheel

Nitto and M/T sit skinny on the wheel, the 315's gave me no bead guard what so ever

The Toyo TQ and the BFG sit fat and a hair shorter.

The nitto was the worst of them all, on the street they spun very easily and sat skinny so I dont ever want to use them again, the BFG hooked decent but not decent enough for me, the M/T's hooked great but I did not like the way they looked and seemed to be probably the least street friendly, I think they are more for your high power DR cars. The Toyo's IMO are by far the best all around, they hook great, look great and do very good in the rain for a drag radial.

I am on my second set of Toyo's and will continue to use them, for whats its worth I make a little more power than you and even cold they barely spin, heated they push the front tires before they will spin. And thats on the street, at the track the effect is even better.

Had the NT-01's on a Kenne Bell Cobra and absolutely hated them. I had ordered the 555's and Discount got the NT-01's in instead and mounted them. I told them I had ordered a different tire and they allowed me to use the NT-01's until my 555's came in. NT-01's had a stiffer side wall than most D/R's. I tried them anywhere between 8 and 28lbs with no luck.

The nt05r tire is better than the m/ts. New technology is better than old technology.

When someone goes 8's on a 17" Nitto, then I will believe you. Until then the MT's are the best out there for pure sticking power.

I had Nitto DR's on my last 5.0 Mustang. It was probably making around 300rwhp and the tires didn't hook for **** when trying to launch.
