Goodbye california- Hello texas
In the process of leaving california and moving to austin(lago vista). July 1st is when I hit the road. So I already have a few questions: 1. emissions-tough or lax?
2. Registration costs? 3. Insurance rates decent? Im gonna be living right next to travis lake- my seadoo's gonna love that.

Aren't Cali emissions rediculously strict? Here you need EGR, AIR, and catalyst but if you go to a place and have !AIR/!EGR but have it tuned out and with cats or fake cats you should be fine to pass, here in DFW at least. Tarrant and Dallas county are participating in some stricter laws for emissions than other counties, same goes with some of the other counties with the largest cities in Texas so you might want to search around and do some detective work on DPS website and on here.
Registration is cheap...and insurance always sucks...have a minor incident on my 10yr record, 25 yrs old, and my premium for 6 months is 544.

Austin has a pretty strict sniffer test, but I don't think Lago Vista is Travis County. My SS passes, and I have removed the EGR and Air pump, but I also have it tuned and am running Cats. Lago Vista is a good 45 minute drive from downtown Austin but is nice. Registration depends on the vehicle weight and so on. Usually 65-75 bucks a year. Insurance rates depend on the area, I am 28, and pay 129 a month with Travelers for full coverage on my SS and Z71. When I lived in Westlake I payed more. Combined, was actually cheaper when I had my lightning.
Be carefull with the jetski on busy days like July 4th and memorial day on Lake Travis. There are alot of 35+ cigarette boats out there that can do well over 90. Then again there are alot of areas that are safer plus some cool little man made beaches that are close to Lago Vista. I usually go to Lake Austin with my X2. Lake Travis is more of a party lake.
You buying a house? I'm looking to move to the Lakeway area by next year, hopfully.

they put obd2 cars on a sniffer down there? up in dallas i usually just go to a car wash to have it inspected and the kids are so happy to drive it they dont care about checking for cats, or tint, or safety in general. ive been catless for about 4-5 years now without any hassles, but again im not in austin
