Default Houston, Anyone?

Hey guys,

I'm REALLY considering a promotion which would relocate my family to the Houston Area. Just curious of the car scene down there?

Also, do you guys have emissions tests?

Any good hangouts, weekly type things?

Nate

I am originally from Houston. With a city that large the car scene is enormous. Depends on what side of town you move to. As far as emissions yeah but not strict.

The majority of this Texas forum is Houston area residents. The car scene here is HUGE, probably only second to Los Angeles. But those LA guys have the wrong cars.

yes many car meets/clubs, yes there is emissions(but there's always ways around it), i live south east of houston and there are about 3 weekly meets that i can choose from. also HRP is a short drive from houston.

Nope, no formula here... It does well for a third gen.
I still have yet to decide where we would live yet.
Another question,
you guys sell e85 fuel down there?

Not really a lot of E85 stations, couple Krogers. From the looks of your pics, it was a factory 3.1 or a LO3?

I'll be relocating from Indiana. July time frame.

The car came with the lo3 at a whopping 180 hp and 700r4.

Good to hear about the e85. I'd prefer not to retune the car for 93.

Cambirdracing: where is Galveston? Could you send a pm with the link to your house for sale. Har.com seems to be a great so far for rentals and home sales both.

Galveston is about 50 south of Houston. Right on the gulf coast.

Link to house. And yes the neighbors don't mind racecars and drinking beer.

E85 is available but not widespread. We have more hydrocarbon traps than corn fields here. It's mostly at grocery stores like Neil said. If you live in Harris county, it is a non-attainment zone so yes to emissions testing. It's all OBDII for the most part though.

you can get around the emissions thing. after u get settled in here, just post a thread for a friendly inspection. im sure someone will speak up and help u. i live in south east houston and the only e85 station i know of is in downtown. i dont look very hard tho. it would probably be better to just tune it for 93. theres alot of great tuners in houston.

you're really moving nate?

I stumbled across this thread while doing a new posts search. I know nate from the Purdue cruises we've had (like the one last weekend)

his car can be seen 1:21 at and mine is at 1:05
