imo a manifolds based mpt70 turbo build is the way to go.
find a stock 4.8/5.3 and build your fuel system. when u you decide to go heads and cam 6.0 all the hotparts will transfer over.

I would like to. What exactly is so expensive with the fuel system? Just trying to price it all out and see if it can be done, I want to know my options first. I am only looking for 450rwhp but I wanted to do it in a fun way. I shouldn't have any problem welding up the kit, just need someone to recommend some decent budget parts. The thing about a turbo car is I want it to sound like a freaken jet plane. What is it that makes the turbo's louder than others besides boost? I want it to sound like this.

Either way the car will be freaking loud. Going to run straight pipes out the back no matter which way I go. If I don't do a turbo I will probably just run a cam only, the heads don't seem to gain a whole lot to be worth the high price, I think I can live with 30 less hp unless someone wants to chime in and school me on heads.

you can mill, p&p, five angle, and do light weight oversized valves on the stock heads. you'll save some money and still get pretty good performance with out breaking the bank.

i'm making 400 rwhp with stock 799 heads and a 224r. if i did the above plus a better cam i'de be looking at 430+.

Yeah but that doesn't seem worth it to me for 30hp, how much $$ are we looking at?

Hopefully I will be picking up the LS1 in a couple days, still haven't got the car yet because of the rain but he says I need to get it tomorrow rain or sunshine since a bunch of people are coming to look at his house Friday which is for sale.

Can someone price out a turbo system? Also where would I get tubing and stuff from? I don't have very long before I need to decide if I want to go turbo or cam only.

fuel is not expensive. if you factor in that overkill is necessary for forced induction. a good reliable pump, rr fpr and correct size lines are mandatory.
its not one area should cheap out on.
get a stock 4.8/5.3. replace springs with even ls6/ls2 springs. leave everything else alone. and invest $ in fuel and turbo system. a stock 4.8/5.3 will take 10psi on pump gas with fmic and correct tune and adequate fuel. period. thats very close or beyond 450rw thru built drivetrain.

I'm going off of what I just spent on heads:

Bare 243 castings: $200
.650 Patriot Duals: $250
LS6 sodium filled valves: $50
Porting: $150

So you can basically get an assembled set of 243s for $500, or ported for $650.

Get someone to spec out a cam for you, with the right setup (1 7/8 LTs, ORY with cutout, FAST intake/TB fuel pump, UD pulley, injectors etc...) You could easily make 450 WHP

If I did that I wouldn't be rich lol. My mom didn't seem to get that I would make the same money selling a car as I would from 3 months of working and saving.

make sure you get a full report of those ported heads. and those ls6 valves are prolly used. for that price. thats a hella good price you got for your stuff but far from normal.

tsp heads are around 800$ range with cores provided

Oh yeah, I couldn't imagine where I would be right now if I didn't start doing this. Plus it's awesome being able to say I have owned all those cars. Keep buying cars for the same price and then put the profits in the bank.

But I ended up not getting the Trans Am, there was an issue with the title so I backed out. Now I am going to pick up a 70 Camaro tomorrow, still planning on doing the LS1 T56 swap but I need to sell my Mustang first. It has a new motor and all new interior, plus it was an original hugger orange car from what he said.

Here she is, I am soooo glad I got this over that 81 T/A. This thing runs and drives great, has AC, new tires, new interior etc...
Also the guy had another HO 70 and I threw a pic in.. Definitely a bad *** color and I will probably paint it that.
