I have a 99 7.3, wouldnt trade that truck for anything. Honestly the best motor out of the Ford diesels. Maintenance isnt bad ~$60 oil change. I paid 7K for mine with 168K on it. With good interior and a Reese 5th wheel setup. I have a Superchips programmer and a full 4" exhaust, helped out a ton. I get 21 mpg on the interstate, and 16 mpg towing a car trailer and the race car all day long, cant do that in a gas truck.
offer $7K and spend some money on the interior. Then you will have a keeper

7.3's are very good motors. It's 15 quarts + a $10 motocraft filter. It's really not that much for an oil change. Just change the fuel filter every other oil change, keep the air filter nice and clean. It will run forever with the right maintenance. Check the tranny fluid for burnt smell or off-color.
I sold my 01 platinum with 185 on the clock a year ago for 13,750.

Found this one but it has a ridiculous amount of miles, I probably wouldn't be able to sell it because of that when the time rolled around..
