Interesting Football Weekend
Longhorns lose to Baylor at home, A&M hammered Tech, & the Cowboys, well...
Let's see if the Texans can keep it going by upsetting the Colts Monday night!
(I saw the other thread with the user that got banned, but I wanted to actually get some legitimate discussion going...at least for a while before the thread turns ridiculous and just entertaining)
I think the Aggies did well by finally pulling the overrated J.J. and letting Tannehill play.
The Longhorns....well, maybe someone can explain that. Isn't the QB the same that played against USC?
Cowboys...

the Longhorns just suck...plain and simple...Gilbert will be good but not anytime this year and maybe not at the start of next year...
Cowboys...who knows where to start there so I'm not gonna bother..
Texans look like they have a good chance with Mannings go to guys are both out, (Collie and Clark)....

Texas hasn't played USC since they beat them in the championship game, and that was Vince Young. If you meant UCLA then yes, same quarterback - Gilbert.
Unfortunately, there can be a good case made for Mack Brown's staff taking the most talented players and causing them to underperform. Whatever the case, it is certainly true that there isn't really any student leadership on the team. There have also been key injuries, especially to the offense line which isn't deep at all. Jeffcoat missed the Baylor game and E. Acho was a little slower since he wasn't 100%. As far as receivers, this is unfortunately the worst crew that we have had in a long time. I graduated from Texas in 2004 and had to suffer through 3 years of Simms doing idiotic things... he did have a better performing group around him on the offense though (but defenses that weren't really all that good).
McCoy was running for his life throughout the '07 season, due to problems on the offensive line. He again had better receivers to go to than Gilbert does. He also had Jamaal Charles at running back, who was pretty decent even though he had a tendency to fumble (like he did right at the goal-line to lose the OU game that year).
Gilbert nearly settled in during the championship game last season and brought it within a single score. A lot of the guys that are the starting receivers this year dropped a bunch of his passes in that game unfortunately. He is a talented guy but it's hard to see it if nobody catches ***** that he throws to him. He isn't without mistakes, he does make poor decisions like almost every first year starter does. Being QB is nice when you are winning since you get all the glory, but sucks when you are losing cause you get most of the criticism. But them again it is a team sport, and a guys that can win games nearly single-handedly are very rare.
At the end of the day this was a rebuilding year, even though nobody in the program wanted to admit it. Texas has been a successful program for a decade and the fans have been spoiled. Look at other programs and what sort of seasons they have had sprinkled in over the past decade.
Michigan 2007: 9-4, of note they did beat Florida and Heisman winner Tim Tebow in the Capital One Bowl that year...
Michigan 2008: 3-9
Michigan 2009: 5-7
Michigan 2010: They will probably lose most if not all their remaining Big Ten games
Nebraska 2002: 7-7
Nebraska 2004: 5-6
Nebraska 2005: 8-4
Nebraska 2006: 9-5
Nebraska 2007: 5-7
Nebraska 2008: 9-4
Ohio State 2001: 7-5
Ohio State 2004: 8-4
Alabama 2006: 6-7
Alabama 2007: 7-6 including their bowl win (although last 5 wins vacated for cheating)
USC 2001: 6-6
USC 2009: 9-4
Not counting the seasons with wins removed, since those were good records if it weren't for cheating.
Florida 2004: 7-5
Florida 2007: 9-4
Florida 2010: Who knows where they will end up
These guys are all pretty good programs, or at least they are #1, #3, #4, #5, #8, #10, and #23 in all time wins respectively... and they have all had some rough seasons in the past decade. Oklahoma lost 5 last year due mainly to injuries, but they are doing pretty well this season (they are #6 in all time wins btw).
Hopefully Texas will practice hard and win at least 2 of their last games to have a shot at post season (and hopefully one of them is against the Aggies ).

Manning played like the Super Bowl QB he is last night. It is like having an offensive coordinator out there, who can pass the ball. Even with a field of 2nd stringers, he showed leadership and confidence. Schaub had zero time to do anything, that defensive line on Indy was kick ***. Surprisingly, our Texans defense didn't suck last night. Our offense didn't show up for the game, except for Foster - who wasn't utilized nearly enough.
I'd say MNF was won by Manning mostly, and poor offensive coaching on the Texan's part.

I dont wear any football memorabilia.
I despise the Cowboys and respect the Texans since they have had a good defense and this year they finally got something going offensive wise.
Oh and my favorite Texas Team in the Aggies but that is family heritage and I attend an A&M university, but they dont win very often
