Ross sums it, Ford had bragging rights for 8 years so they didn't have to change anything, but now since the Fart Turd Boxmaro came out they lost sales. Don't think it was a overnight change, Ford has been planning on the return of the 5.0 for many years, they were just waiting for the right time.

I paid just a bit over 27k on my 2011 however it is the base GT. Compared to other vehicles I was looking at I feel that I got an awesome price (was also looking at a maxima as I like the styling..)

I feel that me dipping into the 11s with only a tire shows what these cars are capable of but that has only left me wanting bolt-ons that much more.

Oh, and to the guy who said it took Ford 10 years to come up with an engine as efficient as the LS? First, look up efficiency in the dictionary and then realize that it is 65 cubic inches bigger than the Ford 4.6 of 96-04 and this has much to do with why it embarrasses it, not that the 4.6 was an inefficient engine, secondly, people seem to forget when fox mustangs put on a beating on Camaros/Firdbirds of the same generation...it is always a game of cat and mouse. GM will come out with a faster car soon, then Ford will, then if GM is around long enough, it will do the same.

Which ford dealer did you go thru? That is a great price!

Easy guys. I'm not ripping on the LSX platform. I'm just defending the little 302.

If you don't think Ford engineers could put out a high HP N/A engine, you are sadly (ignorantly) mistaken. When you lead in sales during all those years, where's the motivation to go that much bigger/more powerful?
What do you expect? there wasnt near the aftermarket supply of performance parts like there are now. 11 years down the road it -should- be running in the 8's after 6 months if you've got the money!

I laugh when mustang guys bring this up. You seriously gonna talk about cubes with the actual motor is a hell of a lot smaller?

Look at this picture (I know it's not the 5.0 and ls1 but these motors are very close in size)

btw: No hating from me about the new 5.0. Bad *** motor no doubt.

Cool, man. I'm not trying to compete, but if it makes you feel better...

Try to be more specific. "Buick" could mean a lot of things. For instance:

This 80's technology based 8 second steet car owns any batmobile that ever existed.

Idk what everyone's deal is. "Well, a heads cam Ls1 makes 490hp" or whatever.. A bolt on 5.0 makes 430.. Hmm, seems like a hell of a lot more work to achieve that 60hp..

Both are good cars, pick what you like. Don't get your damn panties in a wad though because someone likes something different then you. A little competition never hurt no body.

Yeah. I forgot blowers and nitrous weren't invented until 2007.

I think if anyone wants to compare motors, shouldn't it be with the LS3? Which makes similar numbers?

look how long it took the new camaros to get into the 9's or even 8's (if there are even any out there)... i know the few shops around houston making over 900hp in their new camaros that are running mid low 9's.. and it took quite some time to get to that point. compare the new mustang to the new camaros as they are what fuel each other... and i lol when i see these posts bout making 470+ on h/c ls1's... not that it cant or dont happen but its only a relatively small portion of the ls1's out there... not to mention they also have a fast90 or something equivalent to that or more... well i at least hope my last statement is true other wise why would i have spent the 5+k dollars on a bigger motor

Same here, have a 69 fastback patiently waiting.. I want to buy a salvage car though and do a complete interior swap also.

I think people need to really get this war going and take it to the strip or streets.

Does all this really matter? If you have deep enough pockets you can make a Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, just about anything fast.

I'll stay in my 9 second range until I can afford to go faster
