Inspection Help?

Default Inspection Help?

My inspection ran out at the end of November. My highs do not work, but i'm running hid's anyway. Will it still pass inspection, according to the dps criteria for what's inspected?? it says headlamps, 2, so one on each side....

5.01 Inspect Every Passenger Car For: (Listed in suggested order of inspection)

* Check for evidence of Financial Responsibility

1. Horn
2. Windshield Wipers
3. Mirror
4. Steering
5. Seat Belts
6. Brakes (system) (Parking - beginning with 1960 models)
7. Tires
8. Wheel Assembly
9. Exhaust System
10. Exhaust Emission System (beginning with 1968 models)
11. Beam Indicator (beginning with 1948 models)
12. Tail Lamps (2); (1) if 1959 model or earlier
13. Stop Lamps (2); (1) if 1959 model or earlier
14. License Plate Lamp (1)
15. Rear Red Reflectors (2)
16. Turn Signal Lamps (beginning with 1960 models)
17. Head Lamps (2)
18. Motor, Serial, or Vehicle Identification Number
19. 1988 & newer - inspect for window tinting or coating
20. Gas caps on vehicles 2-24 model years old

HID's are illegal I thought in cars that did not have them from the factory....

If they want to be picky they can fail your car cause it didn't come equiped with HID's, but the Hi-beams don't have to work just the Indicator in the gauge cluster (Stupid right ?). I was a state inspector for 6 years in Harris county up untill 2007.

i am a state inspector we do have to check for high beams and low beams.. both must work , you can have HIDs as long as the other lights work.. where are you located at and where are you trying to get your car inspected at ??

i'm in east texas, haven't went anywhere to try to get it inspected yet.

high beams and the indicator are most def part of the inspection

Semi related. What year is expect from emmisions inspection on 2011? Is it 1986 or 1987 vehicles?

24 years and older, but you can also register it as a classic I believe and have no inspection

You can have them as long as they say DOT on the bulb. And you have high and low beams along with a high beam indicator.

Any vehicle from 1984 and up is suppose to have emissions. And for gas caps its any vehicle 2-24 years old they are suppose to get tested.

Thats what I thought. So in January my 87 should be able to pass inspection with only a safety check. No more having to swap mid pipes for inspection anymore.
