They make taps for that, or you could possibly get some old or new spark plugs since theya re cheap and cut slits into the threads to make it like a tap. Make sure you put some grease on it so it can catch most of the shavings.

It's a bad deal not taking the head completely off.

I would for piece of mind.

And it's not that it can't be done...but if it were me...I'd either pull the head off myself and do it. Or pay someone.

Taking it apart is easy. If you can work a socket/wrench you can do it Santana.

Yeah, you don't have to pull the head. Basically you want it to look like a tap.

This isn't one of those thread that get put up every week in every section even though there are dedicated sections for it, like what cam is good or will 1 7/8 headers work.

don't get a tap, get a thread chaser. Looks like a tap, but doesn't cut any threads, just cleans them up. Also use some anti-seize on the new plugs and this won't happen again.

Yes, do this. This is the first thing to try. I would drop the header so you have plenty of room and try the thread chaser. If it doesn't work then heli-coil them, it's easy to do and stronger than stock. No need to pull the head off, thats overkill.

I read a thread awhile back talking about the blowing plug problem that the for motors had. I had to fix an f250 that I had. You can buy the tap at any auto parts store and tap it out but use the slolid heli's. After you get done you can rig up your vac with a straw and some tape and use it to clean out any shavings left from tapping the hole. It worked for me 7 times. I don't drive the truck anymore but I see it all the time and it's runnin just fine.
