Op, there is an easier way to do it but not all of us would like to cut a trap door into our cars. Search for trap doors to help you some...

LOL right? I just found it funny because I can relate, with having a shop cut out almost the entire fuel tank area to replace the pump.
It was a bear of a job getting the one out on my 3rd gen, but that was with the steel tank and filler neck, you LS1 peeps have nothing to complain about!
Although sometimes I have thought about cutting my 4th gen chassis in half to do plugs...

the right tools make things easier, no need to make it difficult with contraptions "trying" to allegedly make it easier
headers make it easier, but even with manifolds it isn't too bad
