Car meet on saturdays in Harligen
Car meet on Thursdays in McAllen
Anything on the island is good to be honest.
And for your kayaks and fishing you would be looking for the side of the island where the convention center is located. Next to is there is a opening to the beach trucks and trailers are allowed there.
Any questions you can shoot me a PM

I will be at SPI on tax day week end. I have been told that PIRATES LANDING RESTAURANT is a grate place for seafood. It is located just to the left of the bridge in Port Isabel next to the lighthouse.

haven't been to the island in a while, but dirty al's is a really good place to get fried shrimp. go south on the main road, it'll be on your right. can't miss it.

If you want quick, pretty cheap seafood go to Dirty Al's. They have really good fried seafood and oysters. If you want to spend a little more, but the food is way worth it, go to BlackBeards. Thats prob my fav place on the island to eat. Cant beat the steak and lobster.

Thanks guys looks like I will be going on my own this week after all. One of my sons professors is not letting him make up an important project so he's stuck with school. Oh well fishing will still be good(i hope). As for the car I'll be in my work car (hhr) camaro is close but not ready yet and gas prices suck anyway. I will probably show up Thursday at Harlingen though. Pm details if u don't mind.

Well just got off work. So far been working too late to do much fishing but plan on it tomorrow. As for food black beards, vickis, blue marlin and one place I can't remember have all been good. Dirty ALS seems to be shut down. Looks like it should be open but not and google maps has it listed as permanently closed. Hopefully tomorrow I get some free time. Thanks for all the suggestions

WelL el pato did have great breakfast and now I'm back home ended up doing good on the trout. Got my limit twice plus an extra 6 or 7 that I let go back. Most were 20-22" but the smallest was 17 and the biggest was 8 lbs. Also caught some jack carvell (not sure about the spelling) and i actually caught a big mullet lol. But no reds or flounder.verall a good week considering I also taught a class and did 37 inspections. Didn't make it to any meets though. Maybe next time.
