Wrecked 1998 Corvette
Hey guys im new to the forum but need some advise. Bought a 98 Vette 3 weeks ago and wrecked it pretty good last week. My insurance got screwed up and the car was never added under my policy so im basically screwed.. Its has 98XXX miles and I paid 13K for it. I know I am taking a huge loss but I dont even know where to begin to price it or how to sell it. Its at a shop currently but I havnt paid them to break the car down yet. It was hit on the front passenger quarter it has same frame damage. I just need to get back as much as I can from it. If you have any suggestions then please let me know. I posted it in the Houston Craigslist and am tired of dealing with those people.

If the frame really is damaged I'm afraid its not worth more than 4k or so if your lucky. With that kind of mileage the engine/trans isn't going to bring top dollar and there really isn't a whole lot else you can sell for any real amount of money.
Like others have said I have a grace period too, worth checking into.

I'm assuming that you don't have any recourse with insurance, so you have two options at this point depending on how much time and storage space you have. You can find a salvage yard that will buy it from you as is (there are a few on CL that specialize in Vettes) or you can tear it down yourself and sell every piece you can off of it. This will give you the most money but takes a while.

I've never heard of that insurance problem, as long as you are paying for insurance. There is that 30 day grace period mentioned, but essentially you are just paying for insurance on yourself, the payments are just dependent on the car you are driving (the reason you need to inform the insurance company). But you should be covered regardless, as long as you had current insurance at the time of the wreck and it wasn't 30 days out.
