Doesn't kelly's camaro have a narrowed rear end and wheels with special back spacing so i would guess depending on what broke it might not run again this weekend.
other thread said he is running today.

Just saw the run. 243 mph then the ambulance went after it. No idea what happened. Badass run though.

This is for the Black Camaro with late model racecraft on the side. Not too familiar with the cars, just reporting what I saw from my vantage point.

Damn that camaro is catching he'll!

Wonder if it got a clean run on that 243 or still more left?

Guessing they got the rear end fixed up unless this is another camaro from them.

Heard bise's camaro blew the valve cover gasket out and coated the header with oil causing a small fire. So it won't run again til Oct. As for the blue car I heard it went 231

something like that and something about a "bump" in the road near the finish that jamed wires into the wheel well. It's on the other thread.

If this new track is notorious for head winds, why wouldn't they just make the runs go in the opposite direction? Seems logical to me, set up the timers to run the other way next time.

I think like the NHRA, the Texas Mile staff are trying to slow the cars down. A prevailing head wind makes high speeds a lot tougher and may keep some cars from having higher speed mishaps.

Tony, the entrance to the airport is on the north end of the track. Their is nothing to the south - designed that way for landing planes. So if someone brakes and/or chute fail they can go off the end of the track with as little obstructions

Fixed; I bet Rcc's glad he sold the car, still hasnt hit the 240MPH he wanted and cost 2 motors and a tranny trying. Im sure it will hit it the next time, then they can shoot for 250 and then the 260 they orginally wanted on the first trip out. If we would have kept doubling our money on the bet we might could retire in the next year

Oh yeah; Congrats on the record

good point, but if everyone knows it has a head wind, then people will stop showing up and pretty sure people showing up is what pays the bills.....

Just saying.

If it is an active airport, they probably log the max headwind readings per day. It would be interesting to look at the historical data and see if it is always nasty, or this was an unusual weekend. If the headwind always sucks there, it will be difficult to have much interest with the big dogs. The cars that draw the crowds and the $.

do you think that was looked at? If it was and it is always windy there why in the world did they move it there?

Could always turn it around and go the other way then you have a nice tailwind

They had no choice. The US Navy took over the previous location, and that forced them to find somewhere else to go. Not many air strips long enough to do an event like this, and most airports won't shut down to accommodate a car event.

I have been in the area for about a month now, it's almost constantly windy. Some canopies have been ripped off of RV's close by but I am not complaining while standing out in the heat.
